*~*~* Preston v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

Averaging 2 points a game. With the Coventry game in hand. Not always our favourite opponents but we are well ahead of what was expected.

The one in the box I assume?

He got his foot in front of the player. Got a touch with his studs and the player kicked Hume and went down. Never a penalty.

This was very much with the benefit of a replay or 3. Very good call by the ref live.
He was on about the Methan yellow card tackle on Greenwood early doors.

Heckingbottom was at Sheffield Utd when they beat us 2-1 at home and their second goal was offside. Sometimes you get them sometimes you don't Hecky.

You can. If you’re constructive and accurate. What people on here do is call him a shit player, say he’s not good enough for the Championship and should be peddled. That’s unbelievably stupid.
I agree , I do think he’s good enough for the championship however I don’t think he’s a premier league player

Missed the game last night due to being in the middle of moving house. Had a look at this thread before checking the result & table. Assumed from some of the posts that we had dropped right down and were suddenly fighting relegation.

Checked the table, we're still 2 points clear at the top and have the best goal difference in the league 🥳🥳

Don't think we were anywhere near our best but like QPR on Saturday, another result ground out, when we quite easily could have lost the game.
I think we missed Jobe massively and although Browne is OK, he does not offer the same dynamic as the lad, but we have to cope.
We now need to get a win on Saturday with hopefully Roberts and Mundle restored, that is not a criticism of any of the front three last night as I thought they battled well without much success, however we look a better team with Roberts and Mundle starting (IMO).

Fuck off Heckingbottom , that was never a sending off
He's whingieng on in local press anarl.

First, his team is just so cynical in stopping any breaks by opposition. It's their defensive strategy - block/foul reset. Even with a lenient ref - they gave away 20 fouls last night - next most in last nights game was Leeds away at Milwall. If fouling is your strategy dont complain when refs give decisions against you

Second - if Mephams was a yellow then Whiteman on Isador in second half was identical and should have been his second yellow. Havent seen him mention that anywhere

Third - he's on about educating refs to make better decisions. Well stop trying to deceive them by pushing and bundling and blocking and pretending its not a foul.

Their number 6 who was already booked clattered thought the back of Browne too. We got a free kick but it was a 100% a booking too but the ref bottled it to send him off.

There are plenty of decisions where I have a lot of sympathy for managers but that one wasn't even contentious. Even if VAR was available, its highly unlikely they would have of overturned the decision .
All this shite about educating refs is laughable . You listen to ex top level pros on various panels without any pressure and the chance of seeing incidents over and over again from various angles, they all still have differing opinions on what the outcome should be . The panel last night wasn't exactly on his side and couldn't really decide either way .
