Pakistan v England 3rd Test

Crawley will be fine as opener, he will get all the India series and by then do you really want to throw a new opener into OZ. Plus Crawley suits the Australian pitches
It’s clear that he is shite facing spin, but that’s not what his job is generally. Maybe would have been worth just resting him here.

There will be yes, as the pitch rarely flattens out. It might start flat but should only get worse. In New Zealand it is often the opposite. Day one can be a minefield then loads of runs might be scored on days 2-4.

In betting for example, always look to go against the team bowling first when they go to 1/2 or under in the first innings. Pakistan went from 1/2 to 11/4 when they went to 43-3.
I'm aware of conditions, how it favours etc but loads of teams have lost over their batting first so to say you shouldn't ever lose as a way of digging out England is daft.

Obviously you need two well matched teams. If India bat second at home then you'd fancy them to beat teams by an innings at times. LIke the last Test when they scored massive. I'm out of touch though in the last 3 years or so, which isn't a bad thing as Bazball would have changed things for me. Although the 2nd India Test has worked out well.

I'm not sure England are that great on a turning pitch anyway.

Pope - 55 runs at 11 for the tour
32 average for the year
26 average since that 196 knock
33 career average from 52 tests
29.97 average away from home (37 at home)
21 average in 2nd innings (800 runs and 196 came in 1 knock)

Nothing stacks up numbers wise for him to stay in the team
Top 3 are a bit flighty.
I think Crawley will be ok in Australia, id drop Duckett to 3. Pope gone altogether

None of the above to happen
Feel like we need an anchor at 3, like Trott was

Someone show the selectors this

Hopefully the experience at a young age will help to develop Rehan and Bashir. Because as it stands we're a long way off having a spinner who can control games like Graeme Swann and Nathan Lyon. Not sure who else in on the County circuit?
He’s not in their class obviously but Liam Dawson has been treated shabbily. Averaged 40+ with the bat and 25 with the ball last season or something

Strangest decision under this regime not giving him a chance, I know Keys asked him to tour India as the reserve spinner and he said no and went and played some 20/20, seems his card has been marked since then.

Would be the perfect option at 6-8 given his batting and control

Feel england have let a couple of opportunities slip and that will decide the series and winning two away series in a row Pakistan was always going to be tough...it's not over though 😀
