*~*~* Luton v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

I don't like to see any keeper time wasting, hate it when others do it, so can't exactly enjoy it when we do it.

Sort of thing that bites you on the backside when the ref adds 10mins on at the end
We’ve had it done to us a number of times over the last few seasons and where did it get us by not doing it? Sometimes you have to play dirty in order to get a result. It’s a results business

Just got back, superb night, away end class, especially after he game had ended, fans players and staff loving it, took ages to get out, presume we had to wait for the wife that owns number 96 to open her front door for us to get back out.

Lads answered some questions tonight, I doubt Regis has come up against many teams that play like Luton

Weathered the storm, they tried and failed to blow us away the first half, no way they could keep up that work rate for 90.

With the technical ability we have in the team, always going to have chances.

Defended brilliantly, for all their pressure will limited them to chances.

Can’t wait for Saturday!!
So glad you had a brilliant night. I did my time at midweek always, too old now. Total respect to you and all our fans at Luton . 💪💪👍

I was at Solihull Moors v Woking last night so missed our game but having just watched the highlights I have to say what an awful team they are. Basically every chance they created was from a corner kick. It was like watching Stoke play in 2008.

What a result. Luton 44 crosses to our 4 ha ha sums up the type of game it was.

I also think we’re getting a bit of luck if you look across the last 3 league games those 7 points could easily have been say 2 and no one could argue.

Massive game now against Oxford.
It should have been 9 points. Leeds first goal was offside.

I totally get that.

It's just not a part of the game I like, whoever is doing it. How often have we seen teams time waste, and then concede in time added on?

I think we've all laughed at the mags for time wasting then conceding right at the end? It happened quite recently.

Either say, it's a small personal gripe that shouldn't overshadow a great result last night

One thing that did irk me is they, probably on about five or six occasions, just dragged players to the ground with no attempt at the ball. Staggered the referee let it go so many times. 14 fouls and not one yellow card during the game.

It was really noticable in the game last night, but it's something I've picked up on a few times in the past. It seems acceptable these days. Like physically holding a player at a corner, or pulling a shirt

Well I say "acceptable". Refs seem to let it go for most of the game, then randomly decide it's an offence.

Commentators as well. No problem with it on the edge of the area, or anywhere else on the pitch. But at the end of the game, they're claiming a Luton penalty for the mildest of touches? It's like they accept you can push a player down or wrestle them off the ball anywhere on the pitch, but it's a penalty in the box?

No consistency

The word gets over used but it’s all down to “narrative” that Luton are allowed to play they way they do.

They have built their identity around “scrappy owld Luton at “the Kenny”, teams don’t like it up ‘em!” Etc. in reality they’re a team of thugs who kick everyone off the park and launch the ball forward every chance they get.

They want to hope the shine doesn’t wear off, because if refs suss them out and start seeing them for what they are they’re as likely to go down as up.

Was like watching Wimbledon 1990, loads of off the ball stuff.

Lots weren’t happy with our first half. I was fine with it, stood up to it, we crumbled last time, no way they could keep up that intensity all game.

They would rather pass it out wide and sling another ball in the box instead of shoot with their feet!

Great win.
