*~*~* Luton v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

they played their game well. But we restricted them to one shot on target in the first half.

Aye. Though they did hit the bar twice and had a goal chalked off (I think wrongly, but can see the opposite side of the argument - the rule is really subjective as was seen the other day with City). Whilst we restricted them, we also gave them a lot of their openings with some really panicked and headless chicken play in the first half.

But they ground the points out. Give me that any day of the week than dominating the ball and coming away with zip

Thanks for the commentary, all! I wasn't able to watch the match so you all provided no clarity with your vague comments!

Of course, I'm joking - thanks again!

From Benno (via my bro listening on the wireless)

“It was all about being warriors out there. Putting your bodies on the line then showing your class to win the match. That was a fantastic performance Nick. We’ve seen another side of Sunderland tonight” (Benno)
He’s absolutely right.

We’d have lost that 2 or 3-0 last season.

Only caught the last 25 minutes or so due to work but Luton can fuck off, hideous way of playing and we defended exceptionally well. Love our two goals as well!

Is that our best win of the season given the circumstances of how the other team plays/played?
Yes, without a doubt imo

Luton are lifting mind.

Imagine still playing shit football after a season of premier league riches.

They look like Wycombe.

Their player Chong has skinned us several times since we went down. Thankfully their upper shit pub league tactics bypassed him all game.

They definitely upped their game against us, like many in this league do. Their tip is probably top 3 hardest grounds to get a win for us. I think we've faced just about all of the hardest games in the league now, we just need to keep consistency from now on. It's mad how many away games in a row though, got 2 more after the next home game, yet we are coming out on top still.

They’ve given us as hard a game as anyone (bar possibly Leeds - but that’s debatable) playing that shit football. It’s awful but they were probably right to think that it was the best way to out us under pressure.

Thankfully, there aren’t many teams in this league who have the players to replicate that.
