SOL expansion

We need to improve our corporate facilities and there are plans to do so. This is then followed by some numpty saying we don’t need more seats despite that having nothing to do with improving corporate. Repeat over and over.
At this time we don't need more seats, but we do need more corporate. Both are actually, a fact. We could speculate and add both, but the pros, come and cost are big considerations. Calling people numpty and deluded for debating it is not right mind.

To be fair, I got the same impression reading the thread title.

I hope they do a better job than in Quinn’s Bar because I still can’t get a seat without going in well over an hour before kick off.

Article in The Times today says Arsenal are looking at ways to both expand capacity and/or increase corporate offerings. They feel they have fallen behind Tottenham, and also need to keep up with recent redevelopment at Liverpool, Man City (attendance increasing to nearly 60k by 2026), and Man U redevelopment/new ground. Fans at the Emirates are complaining about the state of the food offerings and how long it takes to get a pint at half time etc. where have we heard that one before🤔 ?
Tottenham rake in almost £1m in just food, drink and corporate revenue from every single home match. Their fans are still complaining about how long it takes to get a drink, even with the fancy bottom filling pints. I guess there is no way to quickly serve 10s of thousands of people all wanting it at the same time.

Isn’t that the point? They want people in there spending money.

But the bar isn’t set up for 100% seating. No bar is. It makes no financial sense.
I know it isn't set up for 100% seating. I see that every week. That doesn't mean it can't be though,. There isn't even really anywhere to put your drink down to eat the food you're served as part of your ticket price.

This isn't an Ibiza club we're talking about here. Plenty of room for improvement.

You must be reading a different thread to me, because the people saying we don't need more seats are replying to people saying we should expand to 60k because it's 'ambitious' / Leeds are doing it / we need them in Europe / it means success or whatever nonsense.

It's literally what the thread is about (expanding South Stand), the corporate is a totally different discussion and no-one is disputing extra boxes but even then there's space already in the ground before expansion. Black Cats bar, for example.

I don’t think we’d ever regularly get 60k, Sunderland as a catchment area just isn’t big enough. We’d probably get to 55k though with a top 6 team in Europe.

Need to get there first and then see though. Was plenty earlier in the thread saying we should expand on the off chance we get to Europe for the first time in most people's lifetime

Oh I don't know, think we might but it'll be plastics from elsewhere. Obviously there's as much chance of me winning the lottery tomorrow than that anytime soon since the top of the Premier League is just bought by state clubs nowadays.

May I ask if were expanding the corporate what exactly have you against hoying in a few seats to future proof the stadium as a a better attraction for concerts and one off games?this is on the proviso it makes financial sense to do so but only because your going to the expense of adding boxes in the first place and not as the main driver.what is your problem with empty seats?....it appears only to be a safc fan concern!

It depends how the mags are doing. If we were top 6 and they were struggling in outside of the top flight we would have loads of interest.

If we were the best team in the country we would easily sell out 60k. It's been a long time since that though, so it's a bit pointless now.

The catchment issue is a red herring.SAFC has supporters regularly attending home games from the North,Midlands and the South? We’ve got a huge fan base compared to a lot of clubs with huge potential if we become successful.
