Pakistan v England. Third Test.

Given the unusual pitch preparation, surely you give yourself as much time as possible before you name your side?
They've done everything possible to make a dry, turning pitch. A couple of more days of blazing sun on an uncovered pitch should mean it's a dust bowl.

When the captain's rock up on Thursday it's going to be baked and dry so you have to assume it will be a turner hence we've gone with 3 spinners, 4 with Root.

It might not turn much but you'll never find out until you bowl on it anyway.

Would be so Pakistan if the pitch didn’t turn
What's stopping them from going In with a seam heavy attack on a pitch that doesn't normally turn, whilst we have just 1 seamer and a half fit Stokes.

Really hoping Ahmed contributes some good runs with the bat (which given he bats 5/6 for Leicestershire, he ought to be ahead of Atkinson), because I don't think this pitch is going to turn anything like the last one and if anything it'll be closer to a day 3 of the 1st pitch to start with imo

Also seen Brooks comments saying he will basically continue playing off the back foot to the spinners as he has more time and shot options, despite the fact he bowled and lbw in the last test because on a big and fast spinning pitch, playing on the back foot is crazy
Disappointed that the Durham lads have been dropped.

I guess the official term is "rested".
I'd be shocked if the NZ test attack isn't
Stokes
Woakes
Atkinson
Carse
Bashir
Historically, it doesn't spin in Rawalpindi. Don't know if their modifications will have any effect. It's definitely a gamble. I like it.
I said it earlier in the thread, I'd have got Ahmed in the team by dropping Pope (which they were never going to do) and had Carse and Atkinson as the seamers.
I think England don't believe there will be any reverse swing though
We just need to take the last few days of the pitch out of the equation by scoring 800 in 2 days again

Professional golfers probably don't play cricket in their spare time and reference it constantly in interviews
Maybe they don't, but an awful lot of them don't hail from cricket playing countries. Now tell me professional golfers don't have a pastime to get away from the pressures of the circus that is not golf. Sailing? Walking? Something.
I'll be honest. I'm a bit puzzled when some get annoyed by a cricketer playing a game of golf. I don't know why, it seems odd to me.
I actually took up golf many years ago. I was useless, the biggest rabbit on any course I graced. It's easy enough to hit the ball but harder to hit it straight.

Yup they've said this is a very difficult ground to produce a spinning deck at.
We're fighting fire with fire. It's a very bold approach. Win, lose or draw. Got to admire that.
IMO they have the better of us spin wise and I reckon we should've shown a bit more faith in the seamers (kept an extra one in there). Soon see.

They're perfectly entitled to their interests outside cricket. Just don't mention it all the time. Personally I'd rather know how they plan to deal with spin in the third test (even if it is just the same old "be positive" line) than how many birdies they've got, if that's a thing

There is nowt wrong with it all, just another stick to beat them with, for some unknown reason people have to look for faults all the time
