You can see the logic because they had so much momentum. Lots of managers jump ship and regret it when the “big club” loses patience with them. Potter is a good example.

Agreed it’s pretty astonishing that anyone could watch Clarke play for us last season and they play him in the position he is in for Ipswich. He seems to want the left back to provide width not Clarke.

Not sure about that but I think imho, he’ll be one of those players who is class in the championship and is just slightly below premier league standard.

I always said he's not going to have much of an impact at premier league level. He struggled in plenty of games for us in the championship, with him going missing in quite a few games. Still he had to try and get a big contract once in his career. I think they took a punt on him when nobody else would because they knew the odds were they'd get relegated, then they'd have one of the championships best goalscorers to take them straight back up.

Yep Harte convinced him it was a good move for everyone, signing for an established prem team I can understand but Ipswich was daft

He will be fine. Kompany was linked with Spurs and a few other clubs iirc when he took Burnley up, but stayed loyal.

Harte wanted his cut. It's a shame but Clarke was never going to stay, especially with Harte in his ear. Anyway Mundle is a class replacement.

Mundle has done brilliant, which I’m pleasantly surprised with, but Clarke has been badly advised and we should of compromised with an offer
