Boro thread

Never known a championship side try and walk the ball in as much as them, the odd few times they got in the box rather than a cross or a quick shot they decided to pass the ball back outside the box and try again, would frustrate the fuck out of me watching that week in week out, we absolutely did a number on them and in the end it was a very comfy win

That was us under Mowbray in loads of games
Possession and pretty but so frustrating
Mind you they weren’t as good as us when we were like that they just had possession cos we let them and they literally did F all unless we made a mistake

Still think they will be top 6 like. You can see why their xG has been so high this season, they just came up against a better defence yesterday.
Carrick won’t change his style of play so I’m unsure he said last season. That under no circumstance he’s going to switch up. It’s “ how he sees the game to he played” we have the squad imo but we don’t have the manager.

Just a standard goal for the Smoggies, apparently….

Seen loads of people (mostly mags and smogs) say it’s merely a tap-in into an open goal.

What makes it special for me is how totally audacious and uninhibited it is. I think a more mature/experienced player would take the ball to the corner flag and build up another attack. Young Riggy acts on instinct and impulse, and reaps the rewards.

Can't be many people who expected him to backheel it, great composure. I thought he'd have to take a touch and turn, half thought the chance was gone.

Yep same. Ive seen similar situations loads of times in the South Stand.. always the player stops it on the byline and clips it back in as a cross

Being a boro fan must be frustrating at present. At times yesterday I thought they’d played some good stuff but they had no end product.

I do though think that come May they will be in the promotion mix.

Individual errors have cost us. If Jones hadn't have attempted that back pass to Dieng against Derby I doubt they would have scored against us and we probably would have the game.

We need to score first in a game really because we have no idea how to break down teams who play with a low block and Carrick doesn't seem to know how to address it. Yesterday's game was evidence of that.
Not writing Boro off this season, although despite it being nervy at the time, that second half was much more comfortable than it should have been

Still reckon you’ll be in around the top 8 mind

It was an automatic reaction. I don’t believe he even thought about it. You cannot learn that kind of talent.

If he wants to play that way you don’t have a defence that includes Clarke, Edmundson and Ayling.

Not one of them is comfortable on the ball which then forces hackney (who I think is decent) to have to drop deep and become less effective.
