I'd been sorta tempted but didn't go. I didn't realise 'til afterwards it's Mal Midwood from Witchkraft's band. Seen him loads over the years. He's got Blackmore down like. Class.

I dinnar if the two bands are the same lineup.

I may well check them out sometime. I`m not really into tribute bands but seeing as Rainbow are no more I do quite fancy this and have heard good things about them. Hoping to see the real Deep Purple next month - may well be the last time.....although I said that the previous time.

Shame he's not doing any more gigs with that Latin American lad he found. I watched them on Sky Arts a while back and he was class. Regretted not going to see 'em when I had the chance. I think Birmingham mid-week put me off.

I`d waited a long, long time to see Rainbow so just couldn`t miss it - shame there were none of the classic line-up there that were available - Bob Daisley, Tony Carey etc but I enjoyed it and Romero did a canny job of singing Dio stuff as well as the other singers too. Went to see them the following year and my daughter came along and the following night we saw BOC - she said Buck Dharma was a much better guitarist, in her view, than Blackmore.

Buck's the boy like. Quite possibly the best guitarist I've seen in the flesh, and that includes such luminaries as Clapton, Walsh, Lifeson, Gibbons, Gorham, Iommi, and I'm trying to think who else...

Anyway, he's right up there.

Buck`s the top man for me - lovely melodic tone, plays for the song, knows when to hold it back but can really let rip when he needs to - great songwriter and has a really nice singing voice too - Then Came The Last Days Of May (Live version from On Your Feet....) is an absolute masterclass in delivery.

Immense.

Me dad's still got that on vinyl. Lent me that and Agents of Fortune when I was first getting into hard rock. He loves The Last Days of May. That was the one he told me to look out for. Great when we got to see it live together.

Still toying with deep Purple - have had my fingers burned with Heart/Journey this year so never know

Deep Purple won`t let us down. Just like Alice Cooper - still toured when everyone else was cancelling.

That`s great to share something like that. On Your Feet and Spectres are amongst the first albums I ever got back in the very early 80`s. Loved them ever since.
