What makes it worse is when they seem to force you down the collection route. After faffing about and giving in, they fail to turn up. I have had that a few days in a row before, where as it is a 5 minute cycle to the post office.
They don't have a fast drop off either. I started using the print at home labels so that you don't end up in the really long queue behind old people who block up post offices. But they make you queue with all of them, then they fill in a form and they weigh the package. They pretty much do everything except stick the label on for you, so what is the point?
If anything is going to suck the life out of you, it is a visit to the post office. It does give us hope though. When we are old, our eyes are failing, we are 20 years past retirement age, our mental abilities are failing and you can't do anything with speed or ease, we know there will always be gainful employment behind a post office counter.
I have found a better one in a Coop, which has a post office till next to their main till for simple stuff. Walk in, join the usually very short queue for shopping, they give the barcode a quick swipe and job done. I usually feel obliged to buy a packet of posh biscuits just to give them extra business.
