All the chain restaurants are going the same way. I regularly get a mcdonalds coffee if I'm on my way to work. I pull up at the drive through
"Hi, are you using our app today"
No I'm not. Because all I want is a coffee and I've been driving and I can't use my app while I'm driving so it's actually easier just to pull in and tell you I want a coffee.
Can't understand the logic in ordering on an app, at a drive through.
I mean, I could roll up I suppose, park up in the car park, place my order on the app and drive round, tell them the code and then get my coffee. But is it really any more convenient for me than just pulling straight up to the window?
Just after reading this post, I had to look up my companies cyber insurance policy. There in the 'how to contact us in the event of a major incident' was "use our app".
Really? Lets picture this for a minute. Either a few people permanently have this app on their phone and check it regularly to make sure you are still logged in, the app is still updated (or even supported), just for the rare event that it happens. Or you install it on the day. So you wake up in the morning to find the business is not operating. Hackers have infiltrated your systems, encrypted everything, brought all your systems down and all you have is a ransomware note saying where to transfer a load of bitcoin. In the limited communications you have available you also find they have managed to copy lots of sensitive data and are threatening to release it to the world within days if they do not receive substantial amounts of cash. They have used the staff database to contact individuals telling them of the threat to their data, so now even your own staff are hassling you in a panic.
Lets be honest, you are now having a really bad day. But you have insurance along with the promise of experienced incident responders who can be with you in hours to help rebuild the business and deal with the biggest crisis the company has ever faced. What do you want to do? Do you want to just call a number, talk to a human and try to start to feel like you have a grip on the day? Or do you want to download an app, register, wait for the confirmation email (which isn't going to work because your email has been brought down) and generally fuck about with your phone in a very high stress environment just trying to contact a bloody insurance company. Of course, once you submit the form you don't know if anyone is looking at it or how long it might take, which a human will be able to tell you.
Unless you are claiming every week, there is absolutely no need for an app for this.
I never will understand why people have a driveway but still park on the street often opposite each other..Causes a lot of problems on bin day and for large delivery lorries.
If a couple of fire engines ever needed access then I would hope that cars causing an obstruction on the street would be unceremoniously barged out of the way.
Daftness. Some people get obsessive about people parking outside their house. They don't own that space, and are always ok with their visitors parking in front of other people's houses, but in front of the house is theirs. I've known people move their car on the street during the day and then put the car away on the drive or garage at night, without actually going anywhere, just to protect 'their space'.
Then the other people are those who have a his car and her car. But they don't want the hassle of having to move one to get the other off the drive, so even if it is only a 10 minute trip to a shop, they will not take the other car and would rather block up streets than have to let the spouse out or sully themselves with the other car.
We just park on the drive and the first one out takes the car that can get out.
