Ross Stewart

Ross is on £28,000 a week according to Southampton journalists. It will help cushion his pain.
We should just remember the good times we had with him here. Brilliant the year we went up as play-off wiiners and - If he'd stayed fit - I'm sure we'd have gone up again the following year.
Great signing and, in retrospect, looking like a great sale, too.
If he was still here and still fit he’d be class, he’s a great player, but as you say he we got a great deal when we sold him considering where he was in his contract and where he is now with his fitness.

of courser they are linked...a £10mn player will want wages befitting a £10mn player..
a £20mn player will want paying like a £20mn player..

Whats a free transfer? If its an in demand bosman player the lack of a transfer fee to pay has a huge impact on the wages..they can ask for more.
If its a free transfer of somone shit..they have no argaining power
You are claiming that if a player is signed for ten million pound, then they get paid £10m in wages over the course of their contract

thats certaonly how it used to be...quinny i think referenced it like that...

if its a four year contract..then £2.5mn a year or £50k a week..but not really as there is a signong on fee element...

ross stewart was £8mn fee and a three years contract...

As I said back at the time.

With achilles injuries, only 70% or so of professional athletes get back to the same level of that before the injury.

We got a fair price considering his career background to that point, his age and the stats above.

👍 It’s worked out well for us and Stewart as he got his contract to set him up for life (maybe not as well for Southampton yet) but a lot of our supporters need to remember he refused to commit to the club.

Had he signed the contract we offered he could have earned a lot of money here when he was injured in the last year. His choice.

Anyway we move on. We have lads here who want to be here and we should support them. Ross who?
So you think he shud have stuck with us on £10/12k PW when Soton were nearly trebling it ? Not a youngster in the flush of youth either. Don't blame him one bit, most of us would have done the same.
Will always remember him with respect and affection for getting us out of the pub league

How do you have so much knowledge on this deal?

I've got nowt against him for leaving.

He was 27 when he signed for Southampton, while in the grand scheme of things that's no age, in the world of football time wasn't on his side when it came to getting a chance of bigger wages.

He's played something like seven games for them in over a year. A fresh muscle injury could see him out for more months yet. There's no telling if he'd have suffered the same fate with injuries staying here but he'd definitely be looking at less in the bank.

I've watched bits of Southampton's last couple of games and wanted him to do well, but maybe it'll turn out to be his only chance at seeing top flight football and the money it brings in his whole career.

He did a very good job for us but chose to leave as soon as his head was truned. Don't wish anyone any ill but no interest in ex-players who show no loyalty.
I suspect you know as little as I or anyone else does about what went off in those talks. But hey, jump to conclusions and slate a very decent ex-player who has kept his mouth shut and said nothing but good about SAFC and the supporters since he left, eh??

I was in Dingwall a few weeks ago and found the Ross County Stadium where RS played . Nice ground . We bought a star and he cost us nowt. Good luck to him.

im surprised its that high to be fair. Mines a twat to nurse, granted i dont have Harley St.
i wouldn't be surprised if the lad knew his own body and had little confidence in it long term . Smartest move for his family was get the biggest contract he could and stash it.
Good luck to him for the future but i cant ever see him moving for game time now, all about security not football

Don’t think he has a problem with his knees. Just every other part of his legs.☹️

We didn’t miss Toddo?

Beg to differ.
He was in the side that was relegated 69/70 for only the second time in our history.Sold to Derby in 71 we won the cup 2 years later.
What did we miss exactly.?
I'm not sure about that as I still haven't recovered from Colin Todd leaving lol
Colin whee?

You are either a young whipper snapper, or your tongue is firmly embedded in your cheek not to know who Colin Todd is?

He's not saying that at all. "Befitting" doesn't mean "equal to."
Where does it say befitting in the original post.

‘aye the usual thing is if its a £10mn fee and his contract os three years..then his wages are £10mn over three years..

Jason wilcox was DOF at southampton when they bought him..the matser negotiator is now at man utd‘
