SOL expansion

Were you at the chelsea and everton matches under the brown envelope collector?best atmosphere at the sol and the fans were also up in the gods!so a double whammy for those stuck in the past..we have to adapt and compete and part of that is making the facilities the best they can be with the money we generate or loans we can comfortably service without breaking the bank!

Building a whole new stadium ...i have never heard anything so idiotic oh and make it smaller than it is now ? fek sake man dont mention that to kld they are bound to take you up on such a stupid notion! The tightest billionare owner in the country and you think he will build a new stadium ffs how old are you?6?

Is there something wrong with you? Nobody is talking about building a new stadium you absolute idiot

The next extension is about the concerts ect. Part of the club's vision of being more sustainable. Selling out for championship games had nothing to do with it. It's 2 tiers but with greater access for setting up and getting it out again.

Even worse craic.
You’ll be saying the line about being fun at parties next.
Whatever your view some people are having difficulty gaining access to the SOL. If you don’t that’s great Jack, no issue I’m pleased for you.

Turning support away because they are not tech savvy or kids because they havent a bank card is so unecesarry.

Why some of our support want to proactively be happy with this issue I can not understand. The club needs to be as inclusive as possible and it’s good thinking about others and not just self.

I think we need to let this thread get back on track.

Have they mothballed that stadium in Northern Ireland. Maybe we could be a replacement ground and get some kind of government backhander for the stadium expansion. At least it wouldn’t be a total white elephant like the Northern Ireland one.

Sadly not mate. Sounds like the four games are just being split between the Aviva, Hampden and Wembley

The work you will see first is in the north stand mate. A new hospitality offering will be going in.

The East Stand stuff is still a good few years away

Then stop talking drivel then!

Even if I was one of this supposed mass of underprivileged supporters, I would still understand the numerous reasons why we don’t have cash turnstiles in this day and age (as listed previously).

The answer is for you to campaign, lobby the club or even do something yourself to help this supporter base. Not just come on here virtue signalling. It’s easy to be “holier than thou” but actions speak louder.

I get you Jack move on.

Yep that sounds tho logical path for a skinflint billionaire!all this bollocks rumour of expansion appeared when we were disillusioned with the hierarchy at the club giving the illusion that we had ambition and distracting the fans !Im assuming either you or someone in your social circle works for the club? im a firm believer in "past is prologue" and kld has been here long enough for us to see his cards and know his likely approach to most things ..now if we had the birmingham owners well that would be a whole new card game.

The driver for the new light system is clearly for the concerts (and attracting them in a competitive market)and any development will have one eye on that..Have you seen the plans?I personally just hope they are not going to ruin the aesthetics of our wonderful but now tired stadium by hoying up a few boxes and increasing access and speed of set up for concerts which i assume is making the access tunnel much bigger.I know old bob in his book said he had seen some plans(shown by KLD) for development and he liked them but the wiley old sod might have just been trying to sell copies of his book

It’s nuts this is a thread like. Expand the fucker when we’ve sold out about 5 times in 10 years. Jesus wept man 😂 our crowd numbers are absolutely first class. But given our highest finish is 7th since about 1952 we absolutely do not need to be expanding the stadium. If we’re champions league challengers then it’s another discussion. Our all time record average attendance from 1949 or whenever it was would still fit in the ground

I don't think it's fully to do with with more seats .

A lot of people just want better facilities, concourses that have room and easy to get food and drink

We don't want to fall behind on modern stadiums.

Its going to get even tougher to get concerts if Newcastle move stadiums and build a new one, so we need to be prepared

I suspect the BCB will go completely mate. You will see it replaced with a mix of boxes and high end hospitality
I’m trying to work out the necessity of that. Isn’t it the case that the James Herriot suite which was previously our highest end of hospitality is now unused and the reason why all seats to the sides of the directors box are now empty?

If that is the case, wouldn’t it make sense to modernise that and get high end custom that way? My view is the BCB is perfectly reasonable as low end hospitality and removing it dislodges current season ticket holders.

I may be completely incorrect of course but my understanding was the west stand hospitality was mothballed a number of years ago.

This ^

The club know they need to sort the SOL out and hopefully we will start to see some improvements - starting with hospitality offerings in the NS.

The BCB doesn’t generate much income though bud. Closing it and opening new boxes - alongside a new higher end hospitality suite - will generate significantly more.

The entry level bar will be the new one in the old club shop.

I must admit, I don’t know what the plans are for the JH suite. I believe though the WS main offerings will be the Riverside, Monty Suite and Business Lounge (plus boxes).
