SOL expansion

The principle is we doubled our support.

A successful team in the premiership with the associated marketing together with the growth of football means whose to say we couldn’t add 20,000 to our support in the next 10 years.

When you think how poor the team has been over 80 years our support is truly phenomenal. However, apart from two successful seasons under Reidy, which we regularly sold out by the way, we have never really seen how big this club could become by having a consistently successful team in the top tier.

Nobody is saying start building an extension tomorrow but as supporters let’s surely have some ambition?

We have to compete with Saudi up the road for our next generation of support. Let’s just make it even easier for kids to support and not turn them Away because they haven’t a bank card like it appears some of us want to do. These kids are our future support just let them in.

This.

SAFC is uniquely placed in English football to expand relitively easily and cheaply.

Liverpool had to buy houses and the like. It’s like comparing chalk to cheese.

With all the fantastic developments in Sunderland we need to be thinking of development soon to combat any nimbyism.

I would hope our owners have more ambition than some of our fans.

I would hope the owners have a bit more sense than some of our fans

Why go into a shit load of debt (we wouldnt be able to do so anyway but we'll just say we could for the sake of the argument) to expand something that hasn't been filled for 95% of the games it's hosted since it was previously expanded to 48k?

You'd be spending money that could be far better used elsewhere to stick an extra tier on that we wouldn't need to open! It's not all that long ago that the PC was closed down and there's people saying put another tier on the opposite stand now ffs

You have about as much business acumen as Rodney Trotter.

I help the best I can thank you but the fundamental issue is with the club.

I appreciate your alright Jack attitude but this can very easily and cheaply addressed by the club.
If someone is not “tech savvy” enough to buy a ticket from the most used electronic platform for ticket purchases, the issue is not with the club.

I’m far from alright, but if you had any idea of costs to provide an “on the day” cash sales, ticket printing facility, linked to the blocking of normal potential sales, you would soon realise why this is not happening.

Thanks and thankfully sir Bob didn’t listen to people like you with small time thinking.

I’m no one’s representative and as I have said you need to take your arguments to the respective thread but more than me are saying this is an issue for people

The club needs to increase hospitality offering. It’s sold out and a waiting list. The only way to do it is add a stand.

It just is. Please don’t reply and say we could expand hospitality without adding a tier. You can’t. It wouldn’t make sense.
Last time I checked the hospitality wasn't sold out at all. Was even reported they sold half what they did last year after stopping drinks and putting the prices up iirc

I don’t have any arguments, I’m happy that that we don’t have cash turnstiles , for the many reasons I’ve stated.

Or a club that is looking to grow with a policy of youth bringing in extra income and aspirations of being Premier League in the near future could begin to look at ways to increase the size and stature of the club. More hospitality for match days, bigger venue for gigs in the summer, hosting other sporting events (women's rugby world cup opener) there's nothing wrong with looking forward and having aspirations to grow, stand still you go backwards. Our stadium was one of the best in the country when it opened, it's dropped significantly since

I've already said we needed a new stadium. Please keep up. What we don't need is extra capacity when we hardly ever fill what we've got now (less than 5% of fixtures since it was extended). Would be a complete waste of money which we don't have anyway.

Unless you've got a weird fetish for empty seats that you're not telling us about

Great humour 👍

If you aim for the gutter you will likely find it.

My opinion mate and I stand by it, I’d be more than grateful for another team to play as well and prove me wrong though 😁
Were you at the chelsea and everton matches under the brown envelope collector?best atmosphere at the sol and the fans were also up in the gods!so a double whammy for those stuck in the past..we have to adapt and compete and part of that is making the facilities the best they can be with the money we generate or loans we can comfortably service without breaking the bank!

Yes I was, don’t get me wrong I don’t mind the stadium as it is now I just prefer it the way it was. The BCB was a good addition and we have filled it a fair few times in the past so I do believe we can just about fill it as it is but we’ll also drop off back to the 30 odd thousands at times

Have they mothballed that stadium in Northern Ireland. Maybe we could be a replacement ground and get some kind of government backhander for the stadium expansion. At least it wouldn’t be a total white elephant like the Northern Ireland one.
