That squad is absolutely awful mind  I know there’s quite a few with the test squad but still.

Bairstow and Hain should be there, batting looks really weak

Big chance Carse & Potts end up being the two to move across from the Test squad later on.
It won’t be two bowlers who go over looking at that squad. There’s already six seamers.

Probably be Crawley and Duckett given the lack of top order options in that team.

Phew

I would have missed this otherwise

It’s not been mentioned on Cricinfo, wisden, the cricketer , the cricket newspaper at all so thank god we have someone switched on monitoring

Not one to normal have criticism towards selection but still not sure what Jamie Overton in the squad for?

Has not bowled for ages and surely not good enough specialist batsman for international cricket
Aye it’s a strange one.

He’s basically a bowling all rounder who would be useful at around 8 to try and biff a few runs at the end of an innings. He is not the best finisher in the country where he can bat 7 and not bowl this level.

Because all the best batsman now open in T20 so there's very few finishers.

Agree he's not good enough for international cricket but there's nobody that can bat 6/7 effectively.

Why Durham tried to reinvent Jones as a 7 because he couldn't get in as opening.

We've seen England struggle at times in T20 even in our winning tournament.

As we just picked a bunch of openers and relied heavily on the top 2 and Stokes. Who even then Stokes best form as a T20 cricketer, he opened the batting in the IPL for both his hundreds.

In the one day side Buttler will surely play that role and in the T20 surely it’s a better option to play more batsman than Overton.

I really don’t see him as a consistent finisher as 6 or 7, more of a 8 or 9 who may come off 1 in 10 with some big shots.

Think we have better options?

I'm not saying I'd play him. Just that's why he's in the squad.

It's the role he's been playing for Surrey and I believe in the crisp packet shite too

Sam Hain still can't get in the squad.

I wonder who's mrs he shagged?
It’s Fckin bizzare mate
Don’t understand it
He’s a finisher too

his cricinfo c.v. Is very impressive given that "that era of rich options" has long gone. No mention of any extra-curricular with the likes of Mrs Key🤗
Hain's 50-over form has been remarkable, marked by regular low-risk runs and the ability to rotate the strike against spin impressively in the middle overs, and his average - in the high 50s - has consistently been the best by an England player in List A history. In T20 cricket, he has been a mainstay of the Birmingham Bears side, but in an era of rich options for the national white-ball team, his England call-up has proven elusive.
