Durham Departures 2024

Another season over so now it's a case of who is leaving.

Jones has been confirmed so question marks hang over a few players -

Bushnell
Glover
Coughlin
McAlindon
Killeen

Probably a couple more I've missed.

Lees looks to be staying and could be our red ball captain next season. Borthwick and Clarke also appear to be staying but both playing in the 2nd xi.

Probably find out in the next few days from the club who's definitely going.

The time has flown when Coughlin was a promising youth

Think he made an error going to Notts and has never delivered consistently the performances his early talent indicated

Personally i think Stan will be kept on, unless there's something I've missed.

One name not on your list is Gibson.

I wonder about Drissel too. He's good, but is he good enough?

Campbell in his post-Kentmatch interview talked up Minto, Hogg and L. Robinson for next season but no mention of McAlinden nor Killeen which is why I suspect they've both been released.

I've heard that Drissel seems to be laying down some roots so I think if he leaves it will be a surprise to him! (Or he's planning for a career outside the game up here)

Drissell the first choice One Day Cup spinner with Parky tied up in the crisp packet bollocks.

McAlindon fell down the pecking order behind Hogg, Minto and Killeen this season. Only played 1 game the first of the One Day cup

Sounds like L.Robinson if he'd been fit would have been ahead of him too.

Stan Mac Cricinfo page has him barely bowling for the seconds either. Has he been not fully fit perhaps?

Based off the above perhaps Stan Mac will be kept on. As the above poster called them three out as leaving a few weeks back I believe. So a no news is good news situation perhaps.

I went to college with a lad called Minto. Not seen him since the 1980s and when this Minto lad came on the scene, I wondered if it was his son or even grandson
Did he look like Sammy the Eagle from the muppets? I cant help think that James has a passing resemblance.

During the game, Sam Clark (?) on commentary duty spoke in terms that seemed to suggest that McAlinden has a future at the club.

Could we be bidding farewell to the 3rd Killeen to have played cricket for Durham since 1992?🤔
Neil
Mitchell
Michael Killeen Hussey 😀
Crazy.

So they've let - Sol Bell, Doneathy and Bushnell go?

You have no idea the amount of time the cricket club spent on their development, building sides around them at Cricket Board level etc - only to ditch them without an after thought.

What a waste.
Hardly surprising young batters don't develop when we haven't got a quality batting coach

I wonder if you're going out on a limb here about him branching out from cricket?
