Yorkshire 726/7

Yorkshire fan here. If we had declared they would have gone off for bad light, so no point. Northants bowled their spinners all day to ensure that play continued. Which is best, watching runs scored at a rapid rate or watching no play at all.

To be fair I've got nothing agains Yorkshire.

It's the people in charge and some of their so called fans I take issue with.

I don't really follow them these days. Go to TB and Derby a bit just to see some cricket. Wouldn't feel right supporting another county but doesn't feel right supporting Yorkshire either
Chester-le-Street is the same travel time from Hull as Derby. Just saying.

TBF the fans and the people that run the club are like 95% of a cricket club.

A high proportion of ex-players seem to be massive knobheads too.
.
Naturally I don't include Alex Lees in that group.

First off, congrats on the promotion.

I'd agree with the principle of some play is better than no play. Not saying you are wrong - just trying to get my head around it....

If that's the case then why did Northants then go into bat after Yorkshire declared? The game was already dead at that point as well.

And why did Yorkshire not return the favour and bowl with spinners rather than the pace bowlers they used when Northants did start their second innings?

Bad light thing cannot be true. Surely at 4 or 5 hundred and you can see whats happening as the fielding team you start bowling short to get the umpires to take you off.

Shite from Yorkshire - its as if they want 4 day cricket to die.... oh hang on!

The light had improved by the time we declared so we could use our pace bowlers. There was also the fact that Northants wanted a draw to finish 4th, so it suited both parties for Yorkshire to bat on till tea.

The young Notts loanee spinner Singh was on and bowling well on first class debut .We just thought it would be rude to pull the rug on him..in the spirit of promoting diversity. Can't win 🙄 😉😆

Seems very charitable and benevolent of Northants to allow play to carry on when they're being absolutely slaughtered by you! although at least Singh got some good fc experience from it.

Only time I've been to Headingly was to see Hall, Griffiths, Gibbs and Sobers tear England apart.....🏏

Not good.

Would be funny if Yorkshire were found to have used an oversized bat, docked 20 points which means they don't have enough points to get promoted but would have had enough points if they had won this game. That would serve them right.

Let’s be honest, they should’ve been docked points this year - instead of it being added to last season where it was always the case that it would make zero difference to the competition.
