Chris Rigg

Just had a read on the Birmingham forum after someone mentioned it on here.

😂 Jesus christ what a deluded lot now they've got some money and buying themselves out of League 1.

For them to even think they can get him if they got to The Championship is absolutely hilarious and for 10 million.

He signed a deal at Leeds in January to take him to the end of 2028 ... if Rigg will do that then aye it's relevant, if he doesn't / won't, then unfortunately it's not. We need him signed for longer as soon as possible
I’m sure it’s on the agenda.

I think we’ve already set the story for him with Jack Clarke too. Speakmam talked when we sold him about not continuously standing in his way after turning down bids previous. That could end up being a huge thing for getting the likes of Rigg to sign a new longer contract. It could be the difference in the next Clarke/Mundle/Rigg choosing us over a Premier League side. Come, play & we won’t hold you hostage if you outgrow us.

Our task is to recruit these players & get the most out of them while we have them to get into the Premier League, then we’ll not lose a Clarke to a Ipswich.

I honestly believe Rigg would sign a contract with us to protect & grow his value so long as he believed we’d let him go when the time was right for him.

Did I sleep in? Is it April 1st Already?

I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see a Premier League club come in with a ridiculous offer for him at some point. But why on earth would we accept £10 million for him and why on earth would a young lad who is clearly loving playing for us in The Championship want to leave for a League One club miles away?
When he goes (if we don’t get promoted ) it will be a premiership move and nothing else

Not reckon he could go abroad? I bet there’s not one big club in Europe haven’t made a note of his name. Based purely on his age playing in the second tier. It’s not a million miles from Jude Bellingham to Dortmund.

Will we not be happy with the 10m when he has a couple of out of form games and he is then automatically shite? You know like Neil, Patterson, Jobe, Hume, Ballard, Cirkin....... have been over the past couple of seasons?

Exactly. I've said this before, but decent release clauses are not a bad idea in our situation. £20m type numbers will make sure we make great profits, but also allow the players to sign contracts here knowning that we can't stop them getting huge pay increases if a big club comes calling.

Puts it all in their hands, with an insurance clause in it for us.

£20m might be a bit low like

I’ve read some delusional shite but this new Birmingham lot have got to be the most deluded lot ever.

They are going on like their team is full of top stars, they are playing in league one :lol::lol:

I imagine this was a "pre deal"? It sounds like the deal might have kicked in when he turned 18 in March 2024
Aye the last paragraph definitely hints at that.

Either way I'm not worried about Rigg, just gonna enjoy watching him while he's here. I'm even less worried about Birmingham taking him, even if they come up they're at least 2 years away from being a step up on us!
