County Cricket 2024

Seeing as they have gone 4 games without a batting point I don't have too much hope for them  I haven't seen any of the Notts game but given that a draw suits both teams I'm expecting that pitch to be an absolute road.

Might not have to be a road if the weather continues, just 15.2 overs bowled today.
Mel Farrell on comms at New Road by the sound of it. Thought her and Marty were a great double team at Kidderminster earlier in the season.

I’d like to place on record that I really like Mel Farrell on comms. Proof that skill over filling quotas should always be a thing.

On another topic - the battle for second, I watched quite a bit of Somerset v Hampfrica today. Was a really enjoyable days play, quite mad, 15 wickets fell on a pitch that helped both seamers and spinners (shock), but Leach really looked a different class. Despite being skittled for 136, they’ll fancy themselves for a first innings lead

Somerset going to lose at home to Hampfrica, but the biggest shame for me is that I was really looking forward to the prospect of Leach, Bashir and Vaughan bowling in the fourth innings of that game and it isn’t going to happen now.

I’m actually quite gutted about it
Somerset seem to have got the better of the weather so far.

Hampshire have got the better of the weather if we’re being pedantic ;).

I'm feeling miserable today. Slept badly, weather is very autumnal and its the last day of the county championship. It feels like more than just the end of the summer for me. Having worked like a dog for 20+ years I had little time for cricket. However, I took a career break for a year which has meant I've had the chance to watch lots of county cricket. I'll be back working like a dog again soon so I probably won't have this same opportunity again for at least another 10 years.

Two great highlights for me this year.

The draw between Gloucestershire and Glamorgan where Glamorgan almost chased down a world record 593 and went down to the last ball of the game. That was sensational.

Louis Kimber scoring 243 for Leicestershire at no 8 and almost beating Sussex, smashing the ball around for fun but just fell short.

I've loved it.

Two good calls those. The Gloucestershire Glamorgan game was a tie of course, which made it even more exceptional.

Interesting that Bashir's figures looked comfortably the worst of the 3 but he's the rest incumbent.

Did Kimber score any runs other than that? Never seemed to whenever I looked at their scorecards

I dont think so. He hit nearly twice as many sixes in that innings than he had done in his entire first class career up to that point.

In his last 14 innings his highest score is 38 not out.
