Car Crash 16.4…

They made a rod for their own back and were too clever for their own good, making it 100 balls, a tournament in the peak of the summer in a designated window, was a great idea imo, changing it from T20 to 100 balls terrible idea.

A franchise T20 tournament in the summer was always going to upset some county fans.

However making it 100 balls made it worse and gave more ammunition to people not wanting such a tournament.

T20 as we know is only 20 balls more and as we know is extremely popular worldwide, why we are the only country not embracing that god knows, surely a extra 20 balls would not have been the difference been tv companies taking it on or not

well its 40 balls all in per game, 6 and a bit overs, which in some games is another 30mins, but theres ways of trimming that
Yeah I think there ways round it, it’s proven to alienate to many people.

Like I say it was hard enough to get a tournament of the ground which I throughly enjoy by the way and get people on side in the first place.

But going with 100 balls was and has proven to be even more divisive.

I still strongly believe we in this country should have a short format tournament in the designated window it already has, and can have the second biggest such tournament in the world behind India, but for me needs to be changed back to T20 asap.

My hope is the private investment comes in and asks for that

Not denying it would be value for money. I love test cricket, but I can’t afford to take the family for the day

i find it hard to believe that they made more today than in 4 days of the hundred, as the at least one game was sold out

And if that was case today it has to be that it’s because the tickets are way more expensive as it was nowhere close to sold out Today
The price to watch test cricket in this country is absolutely disgusting. Friend of mine is paying £90, for England Vs Sri Lanka at The Oval and I just think that's far too much. I'm paying about £200, at Durham for a full season of red ball, One Day Cup and T20 which for me is outstanding value and I always get to see some top class cricket and you always get the top names appearing from time to time. For example Stokes Vs Lyon down at Blackpool which for £45, for 4 days was tremendous value. Whilst I've said I'll never give the ECB a penny because of what they did to Durham (I've stood by that promise so far), even if I was to look at breaking that promise, the price would put me off massively.

The prices for a Lords test are nothing short of a absolute disgrace

Absolutely I think the last England men’s game I’ve been to was our last test at CLS, and I object to price of t20 too, they are nearly the same price as an ODI

But then the whole thing needs an entire rebrand, and the investors won’t want to foot the bill for that, and I don’t really want the “120”, and counting back down balm by ball with sets of 5
Just checked. Cheapest adult ticket for day 1 vs Sri Lanka is £115  absolutely ridiculous
How much was OT, someone said £48 but I find that hard to believe that’s cheaper than a t20

I don’t want ‘120’ either, just 20 over cricket was has proved very very successful in every corner of the cricketing world.

I think they should just admit they made a mistake on that score and change it back

For me personally it was their biggest mistake

Some in the Lancs group have said £53-£75
Someone else £40-£80

Lalit Modi absolutely pulling apart the finances of the 16.4 scam on Twitter

Once the Indian/Saudi money comes in there won't be an ECB.

The moneymen will form their own body to do what they like with our counties.

The ECB haven't learned a thing from letting someone with a lot of money into the game. Then again Stanford didn't even have the money. He was just a Billy Bullshitter.
The Stanford embarrassment should've been a harsh lesson, but the blazers that run our beautiful game have no humility.

You accusing others of lacking humility?😀😀😀
It's perfectly true,of course, that the Hundred is a disaster and the suits are too proud to admit it.

That’s the reality (re India anyway I’m not convinced the Saudis that interested) and has been ever since the IPL started, and probably since their transformative World Cup victory in 1983. Who is going to run a game that is the national sport of the most populous country in the world, and of pretty much nowhere else*?

It has always been only a matter of time before the dominant short form white ball competition played in this country was a franchise affair backed by Indian money. The main thing wrong with the ECB strategy is that it has lacked clarity. Are they trying to delay the inevitable, or make as much money out of it as they can by facilitating it?

* given that they can’t decide which sort of football they are supposed to play, maybe Australia at a pinch

M. C. C. To buy 51% stake in the Hundred franchise based at Lords.
Thats further problems for Middlesex who have an ever more strained relationship with their landlord and are effectively skint.
