New Music Releases Thread

Not someone I've listened to much before, but Katy J Pearson's new one sounds like a very good pop album to me.
Feels like a bit of a return to form. Didn't get on with the last one. Same goes for the Nilufer Yanya one, it's very good.

Loving the Mermaid Chunky record, what a breath of fresh air! Very fun.

The Hinds record is decent as well. They're a band that has mostly passed me by, I was pretty surprised to see that they were still going tbh. Worth a listen. The track with Grian Chatten is lovely.

Not fully sold on the Jamie XX one. It isn't quite hitting the mark for me.

Gave that Blossoms one a go out of interest too. It's pretty decent actually. You can feel the Jungle influence on it. Gary remains one of the best songs this year. First time I've ever even heard of them to be honest.

Hinds had a complete change of rhythm section between the last album and this one so must have come close to calling it a day. With regard to Jamie XX, I think the second half of it is a lot better than the first half.

Anywayu, while I battle with a backlogue, it's time to list tomorrow's releases. There are albums from Alan Sparhawk, Being Dead, Christian Lee Hutson, Damiano David, Efterklamg, Ezra Collective, Gallant, Hayden Thorpe (postponed from last week, I think), Holly Macve, JD McPherson, Lady Gaga, Leif Vollebekk, Maximo Park, Rahim Redcar, Sophie, Sunflower Beam, The Wolfgang Press, Xiu Xiu, Naima Bock, Skinshape, Courettes, Broadcast (another set of demos and actually out on Saturday not Friday) and Von Spar/Eiko Ishibashi/Joe Talia/Tatsuhisa Yamamoto (two albums from them).

Every time Maximo Park release an album I get a big surprise that they are still going.

Looking forward to the Hayden Thorpe one (singer from Wild Beasts). His solo work has gone under the radar a bit but it's excellent.
