SOL expansion

Invest in the stadium and its facilities… Yes! Expand capacity at the ground… No!

Only time you expand a ground is when you’ve built up enough demand to warrant additional seating. We never sell out so don’t have that demand. Hopefully a few years might be different but definitely not at the moment.
Don't agree mate! It's not about selling out the ground it's more about efficient use of funds . If your adding boxes and all the support stuff that comes with it..it would be madness not to add seats at the same time

Tickets for kids have to be appealing and we have to get them in, considering Saudi utd up the road.

Disgusted to hear we are turning kids away because they can only pay in cash as a side.

With the devepment of sheepfolds we can’t risk nimbys effecting future development. Extend it and continue letting kids in for next to nowt. Take the long term view and build the fan base whilst future proofing the stadium.
This, let the kids in for nowt. Long term it will pay off.

I said in an earlier post to stack 2/3 rows of boxes on the east stand so the roof looks equal.

Also extend the south stand similar to the north. This would increase capacity to around 55,000. With the extra boxes this would increase by another 1000. The stadium wouldn’t look lop sided as it does now.

Another thing the club should do is put a retractable roof on and have radiators in the ground for us poor buggers who feel the cold the knars

The last time we were half decent in the top flight was the Reid era , both seasons we finished 7 th our ave attendance was 47000
Given we are averaging over 40,000, promotion to the premier league with all the additional marketing and raising of profile as well as the general growth in football we could easily add several thousand onto this, particularly if we were half successful in premier league. We have doubled our support over the past 20 years, so it’s not inconceivable that a further 15-20,000 could be added to our support in years to come.

Let kids in for next to nowt snd we are building our future support. We will make money on merch and food contracts. Future proofing the stadium with all the great developments around the SOL and city makes sense imho.

I’ve posted on a previous thread about the stadium that there is a flaw with its current design. All the stands roof lines meet on the inside of the ground above the pitch.

Because of the two tier design of the west and north stand they slope inwards towards the pitch. This currently means that the rain water runs down the roof towards the pitch and then along the guttering towards the east and south stand. The gutters then follow the roof line of the east and south stand which slope backwards away from the pitch and to the outside of the ground.

If it was expanded in its current design the roofline would slope inwards all the way round the ground towards the pitch meaning there was nowhere for the water to go. This was an issue as seen at old trafford when the water had nowhere to go and ran into the stadium and edge of the pitch. If you haven’t seen it there’s loads of videos kicking about of the water pouring in

Something for " The Stack" to have a look at maybe? ;)

The Emirates stadium seems to cater for this type of design quite easily.

Nowt that a bit of plastic guttering and a few water pumps couldn't fix!and as someone else has said the Emirates must have solved the problem!

Arsenals Emirates Stadium Roof slopes down towards the pitch. They have a state of the art pump system to collect and recycle the rain water.

Good post but you would hope better minds than us will sort the problem. Pumps would likely be the answer in heavy rainfall.
Sounds like it's still very much the plan. We'll be playing in front of 60k plus watching prem and champs league football within the next ten years under this lot.

Water buts in each corner of the ground is the answer of channel all over the away fans

I seem to remember Sir Niall Quinn doing a £19 Season ticket for kids it would definitely bump numbers up now and then as they get older the hope would be most would become season tickets holders.

Would have to have a cap though or you'd not be able to get a seat at games cause The south stand would look like Oz when Dorothy first lands in her house 🤣

The tickets for kids are cheap enough. I think we need a degree of realism on price while also recognising the importance of getting the next generation hooked and affordable for families.

Haha indeed but knock 6,000 seats on and let them in cheaply.

We may loose money on tickets but catering contracts and merchandising would be significantly increased.
