County Cricket 2024

Cheers Marra . I knew they both played cricket for Burnopfield . There’s a memorial bench outside the dressing rooms at the ground 👍
Aye they had a hard time of it those lads, if I remember right it was only a few years after another lad from the team was killed in a car accident who was a decent player, think he had a bench at the old ground

Is a draw worth half a win in the County Championship ? From a draw being worth exactly nothing in the era of three-day matches it is now of more value than a draw in football.
They reduced it to 5 last season. Some counties complained Lancs being one of the most vocal and it went back to 8.

They'd only be 7 points behind Notts and 8 points behind Warks if it has stayed at 5. So sealed their own fate.

Yes,but a slight compromise. 5 bowling bonus points available, one for every 2 wkts. So a maximum of 15pts for a draw;26 maximum for a win.
The award of bonus points has varied over the years. The system could be radically changed so that bonus points are awarded on the margin of victory, not the number of wickets taken or runs scored. As an extreme example, a team losing a match, by say 200 runs or an innings, would be denied any points - the team winning would receive extra points.

Yorkshire promotion is pretty much sealed now.

Middlesex really needed max points to stand any chance in the slim chance they had.

Im sure he pulled up lame bowling in the Essex game last week and couldn’t finish his 9th over. Could be it’s the end of his contract so the club are looking at other options
Bring him home for next season then!

Lancashire currently have Worcs 22-5, they look to be doing their bit to pull off the great escape

Been watching it, the ball hasn’t done massive amounts either to the naked eye but it’s clearly not a road - given Lancashire will probably need some batting points it may explain why there haven’t been massive celebrations at the fall of each wicket

Seeing as they have gone 4 games without a batting point I don't have too much hope for them  I haven't seen any of the Notts game but given that a draw suits both teams I'm expecting that pitch to be an absolute road.

Good news for @Ghfd . His protege Dom Bess has signed a 2 years extension to his Yorkshire contract. Every chance there’ll be a group hug next season.
