Craft Beer

Having my first Wear Beer in the Isis, birthday pale…it’s not for me.

I finally made it to Brussels last weekend, 3 Fonteinen has to be one of the greatest places on Earth if you like lambic and gueuze. As we were sat there thinking we wouldn’t be able to stay as long as we’d like the gig we’d travelled to Belgium for was cancelled so we ended up staying until closing drinking with the barman.

Also went to Cantillon which I was actually slightly underwhelmed by, can’t put my finger on why. Ended up leaving after a couple and going to l’ermitage which I loved.

Dellirium is quite the experience on a Friday night, not what I was expecting at all but great fun.

£6.70 for a pint of Black Wave!!! 😭
It’s very nice at least.
3F is excellent like. They've done a great job with that, such a nice place to sit and sup. We sat outside for an afternoon just before the Toer de Gueuze, it was bliss. Did they show you around their cellar/cold room?

Know what you mean about the bar at Cantillon. The beer is outstanding but that place is soulless. They're in the process of creating a new visitor centre next door and I think they're going to shift the bar which would be good. I'd still recommend the tour and tasting to anyone. It's so convenient for the Eurostar as well, you can be there within ten minutes of stepping off the train.
Antwerp worth a visit?

Also is it worth doing Brussels while im there?

Where did you visit in the Netherlands?
Antwerp is decent yeah. I prefer Ghent and Brussels though. If you like beer then Brussels is a must visit. I can give you tips if you decide to book up.

We stayed in Leiden in NL but took day trips to Amsterdam and Utrecht. Did a couple of days in Rotterdam as well. I love it over there though, it's perfect for what we enjoy (cycling around and drinking beers, now with the baby). Fortunate that it's so easy to get to on the train.

Spot on I've done Ghent and Brussels is on me list because I'd fly there anyway.

Wanted to do Utrecht and Rotterdam aswell so would probably do it on the same trip. Only problem is we said we'd save for Japan next year so I'd have to put the European trips on hold for a year 🤣

Still tempting to sack Japan and have loads more European trips again tbf.
I went to Antwerp & it was f***ing brilliant. I drank loads of beer, but not in a manner I could report back here. I just drank it & got smashed. It was f***ing class. Go
As said above meant to be doing Japan next year before having kids but it's tempting to sack it off.

Full Circle event tonight was absolutely tremendous. Some of the stout and sour offerings were 👌 That 14.5% offering from VC was as good as I remembered.
Ffs. Been here an hour and arseholed already. Stupid f***ing barrel aged impy stouts
You seemed relatively okay when I seen you sauntering past.

The restorative properties of a nduja pizza, swiftly administered by the Mrs. 😂

Was a class night. An excellent selection of brewers and a fairly rapid turnover of beers on each one.

Brussels and Ghent are both fantastic for beer. Only been to Rotterdam with work so didn't see much but wasn't that impressed. Just don't bother with The Hague which is the most boring place I've ever been to.

Utrecht and Rotterdam are tremendous. In fact The Netherlands as a whole is. Great place to dodge about.

Really good set up. Great crowd and superb beers. The tunes down stairs were great too. Hopefully it becomes an annual staple.
Pizzas in there are tremendous mind. You've got a few big check ins on untappd mind 😂
Food stalls outside were top notch as well.

A lot of people think Netherlands = Amsterdam but like many countries the capital isn't representative of other cities. Good beer, good people, easy to get around and everyone speaks perfect English.

Looking for options for a beery weekend in November. A few days drinking around the Netherlands isn't a bad idea.

I also really like Amsterdam tbf. Plenty more to it than its stereotype.

That's a cracking idea sir. We've had a bit of a dodge about a couple of times. Enjoyed Dordrecht too thinking back.

Vault City impy stout in Tesco at Roker @Longy , 11% 330ml for £5.50. Gingerbread latte, got one but not a fan of ginger so hopefully it's like the ddf gingerbread they did, as liked that. New Northern Monk 8% stout as well, chocolate and strawberry.

Couple of new Full Circle IPA's as well.

Only called in for some bread on me way home from picking the car up after a service
Oooo. I’ll have to call in & pick some up.

My drinking in the house is not far off done these days like. Had a couple before going out on Friday, but they need to be low level things. Opened a Fuck Cancer Impy when I got in on Saturday night cos I’m a f***ing idiot & probably had one sip before falling asleep

See what happens before Leeds on a Friday night. Got the bairn at footy first, so might have an Impy or two before walking to the ground.

Very rarely drink in the house. Haven’t for some time. Much prefer the social side of things.

Been to an industry Cybersecurity event at the Hilton in Gateshead today.

Swift pint at Microbus at lunchtime, and a one in the Central and Axis on way home.

Little Earth Project in axis too. f***ing class.

Still been tonight & bought 6 different cans like

I’ve been saying for years now, I’ve got too much beer, but I’m now at the point where I’ve got no clue when I’ll drink it.

Almost talked myself into drinking before Leeds so I can drink a couple.

Haven’t had it before, so it’s a new check in. It’s alright actually.
