CC : Surrey v Durham

Giving them a little leeway with young lads in the team

It’s the crap scheduling which has caused this line up for me , but that’s how the FTECB seem to think is the future of red ball cricket

Eventually it will affect the test side in the next five years
Well of course there are extenuating circumstances, but we shouldn’t be depending on teenagers for a bowling attack, and yes it would be harsh to criticise Bedingham after his performances this season, but I just feel like we have that village team feel about our side, anybody who had a set of whites and a bat got a game, I know I’m going off on one but the lack of any threat in this game either with bat or ball has royally p!ssed me off.

I’m not disagreeing D. It’s a fair point but Durham without Carse and Potts we’re always going to struggle in this one and Raine

Not sure about anyone else but I feel a bit short changed by our performance in this game, the make up of the team was a bit of a joke for a first class county playing in the top division, and then to be presented with a batting performance as we were by our so called top order is totally underwhelming.
I think you nailed it suggesting that they’d like to get home as early as possible.
Classic end of season performance by a county with nothing to play for compared to one who has. We have performed today like Kent Leicestershire Gloucestershire or Derbyshire have in this round of matches.

Even more so when the Oval is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall 😀👍

Makes you question whether it’s worth turning up v Kent next week🤷‍♂️
Supposed to rain a lot so doubt we’ll see much play anyway.

If we’d won we’d have still been fifth in table anyway. So really the result was more just about testing ourselves against the best side in the country.

Plenty to work on for next season as you’d imagine we will get them twice.

Game over . Lost by 10 wkts . Highly likely the bus home will reach the Wetherby Whaler by closing time (other chippies are available) .At the risk of a points deduction James Minto can be treated to a couple of cans of Top Deck Shandy 2% proof. Have expecting Soupy and The North Face to turn up on Saturday at Benwell Hill for the Durham City v Newcastle City play off game for reinforcements. Be interesting to see what side is picked for the Darling Buds of May game next week.Have we seen the last of Michael Jones and will it be Lees’ swan song? Will the price of a cup of tea in the Members Bar be reduced as an act of loyalty? Finally will TRT’s preview appear sooner than the club’s iffy school bus homework type report🤔
