This was mentioned on the Totally Football Show podcast last episode. Basically it's actually pretty unlikely that he'll beat it as he'd have to go on so long as a similar rate to match what Shearer did, realistically Haaland won't be in the Prem for as long as required as he has already suggested he wants to play in La Liga etc.
Even Kane who was the most likely candidate has pretty much ruined his chances of beating it.
For obvious reasons but the hatred of Shearer on here does mask the ridiculous fact of what a good goal scorer he was

Thats a good point and I don’t disagree.
Teams compete for league titles at the same time with the same conditions, players today play in very different conditions compared to the 80’s or whenever
So do we start a new top goalscorer record every few years?

Im surprised when Shearer is such a egotistical twat that he happily reduces his top flight goal tally by 23 goals.
But then I guess without "all time prem goalscorer" his career is far less significant without it. So he has to swallow his pride at his single career medal, even though there are shit players with the same amount of prem medals.
