I still thinking letting this lad go was the worst of the previous regime's decisions regarding academy players (and they were all pretty bad- like we could have had practically a full 11 of academy graduates that would have been competitive at this level now- from those few year groups/classes.

Whatever my/our problems/criticisms with speakman and KLDs regime- turning down that bid from Brighton for watson was a big indication of how far we've come.

I think Mumba is the worst because he's a solid championship fullback (he's also lost a year of development because Fulham stuck.him in the reserves)- having him available over the last two years could have been crucial.

I know that young keepers grandma, he's really well thought of at Liverpool and Pickford has been keeping in touch with him as well.

Agreed

Made his debut at 15 and flogged for peanuts a few years later by Donald and methven.

They really were absolutely awful people
 
Think this thread highlights the difficulty of transitioning to mens football, and the quality that's present even at a relatively low level like league two, or Scotland. Players that we had really high hopes for can't get a shoe in at the top level and in some cases not a regular at a much lower level.

Greenwood mid table championship probably the best.

Stephenson 21 years not a regular in Scotland.

Hugill 21 and not a regular in league one, struggling for goals and minutes.

Mumba now 23 and only good enough for a relegation candidate in championship.

Even our brightest lights can struggle to step up to the true top level

mumba wasnt sold for peanuts..i doubt his transfer value is much higher now than it was then..he flopped at his next club and is doing nowt much now at a poor club. There are more egregious examples I'm sure, or at least will emerge as such in the coming years if any of the players sold then make dceent careers for themselves.
