CC : Durham v Lancashire

Close:

Durham 367-4 (85 overs) lead by 139 runs.

Bedingham 177*
Ackermann 111*

Partnership is worth 268.

Absolutely phenomenal partnership. It simply cannot be overstated just how important this partnership is for our season, not just this match. Who knows, perhaps even what it does for the future destiny of this team.

At 99-4, when they came together, we trailed by 129 and Lancashire were well in the contest. I had butterflies in my stomach for every ball they faced in the first 40 minutes or so of their partnership, but when Ackermann cracked consecutive boundaries off Phillip everything just seemed serene for them.

We’ve well and truly ground Lancashire into the dirt in that final session, they’ll be absolutely demoralised with not taking a wicket after Tea and given the deficit is already over a hundred, I’m not sure if they’ll have any genuine belief left that they can win this game.

Tomorrow we have to come to the ground with the intention of batting really big. We’ve got two FC centurions in De Leede and Raine to come, Potts too can hold the bat, so I will be very disappointed if we don’t get a lead of over 250 - securing maximum bonus points in the process. The way we’ve paced this innings, we should be 250 ahead by Lunch and then it’s up to the lads as to how long they want to leave themselves to bowl out Lancashire in order to have enough time (should we need it) to chase down a win.

A win here would secure our status in Division One, it’s only two decent days of cricket from our lads away from being realised and I think every single one of us on here would’ve been more than satisfied with that equation back in April.

As for Lancashire, if they lose this they may get a favour off Essex, who are similarly grinding Notts into the dirt, but either way they are properly in the shit.

Ha’way the lads.
Been a joy to watch this, at 90 odd for 4 I was worried, need to move heaven and earth to keep beddingham here

Pay him whatever it takes.

Just managed to see Ackermann get his ton before I had to leave. What a great day for Durham - 5fer Rainey and then a magisterial century from Bedders who, when he's in this form, is on completely different level. And of course an excellent century from Ackers.

I doubt many, including myself, could have imagined this score when we were 99-4.:D

Spot on

I think Ackerman has done well for Durham but I think he could do even better

I wanted to say this now rather than after a failure. He’s a top class cricketer and he should be scoring bit runs often, he has the ability

I really like him in this position too

Beds is a joy. What a cricketer

Huge 2 days in our season and we fuckin nailed it let’s be honest

Had a rough couple of days meself and I’d stupid how much this has helped haha.

Haway Durham

Is that a rumour?

Say it ain’t so

I’d have settled for 367 all out at that point mate, easily 🤷‍♂️

It was rumoured at the end of the season a couple of years ago I think, but not presently AFAIK.

It’s ridiculous that we have a cricketer as good as him coming in at 6. I said earlier I was surprised Robinson went in before him, but my word, how happy I am that he was able to do what he did (along with Bedders)

Not stupid in the slightest mate, honestly, I get it. If you're struggling and you ever need a bit crack though, give me a shout, seriously, you’re never alone 👍

Thank fuck

Can’t see why he’d leave for another county

I could understand a move back to SA

I always spot him having a drink in Durham like, I reckon he likes it round here

Good man. Cheers Brandon. I’ve enjoyed reading your daily summaries of the play even when banned.

Hopefully he loves it here mate.

I can’t see why he’d leave but I would say that

I suppose there’s always the allure of London or another decent sized city for any lad who isn’t a local though.

That’s very kind mate, you said it yesterday too and I’m just happy that someone finds it interesting. Even if everyone else thinks I’m a boring twat who goes on a bit too much

Was there for the afternoon session and an hour after tea as has been said fabulous by Bedingham loojed like he was only going to get out if he gave it away and nicely backef up by the calm Ackermann.
Interesting had a very quick word with one of the back room staff and he said Bedingham is far more relaxed this season as his international career is sorted and he has been given a chance which is all he wanted.
Sadly thats probably me done for the season unless we have a balmy last week in September.

As has Bedingham in every one of his seasons with us.

To come back to this, many of the lads who were around at the start say nobody will ever top Dean Jones, but I’m too young to remember that.
The other two did it for longer and won trophies. And they helped transform the culture at the club from the whipping boys to the champions, Benks especially. As I said, come back to me in a couple of years.

I'm just happy that there is even a conversation to be had that anyone could rival DiVo and Benks.

I was a bit annoyed that he opted to revert to the Saffers, as it means he plays as an overseas. But I agree with whoever said it earlier, if he had waited out and qualified for England we would barely see him.

No surprise that its Bedingham and Ackerman that dug us out the earlier hole.....they have far and away our best batters this season. I dread tothink where we would be without them
