Things unlikely to be seen again?

England picking a captain because he was a great captain but only a modest player. I'm thinking Mike Brearley.

County Championship expansion. I was listening to something recently, can't remember for the life of me what it was, but there was a coherent and reasoned argument why there should be two more teams in the CC. They were specifically to be made up of young players released by the 18 counties who would otherwise probably drift out of the game. It was argued that the Minor Counties set up just isn't designed to be a safety net or a system that could facilitate players who still had unrealised potential or had maybe been unlucky with injuries getting a foothold back in the county game. One was to be Northern/Midlands based and the other Southern.

Loads of things.

Players playing hundreds of Odis like they used to is unlikely because of franchise and T20 internationals. Loads of Odi records will therefore never be beaten.

I doubt we’ll see a fast bowler get close to 500 test wickets never mind Jimmys 700.

A 6 or catch in T20 franchise cricket that is not sponsored by some company. i.e. a commentator creaming themselves shouting 'that's a Tata maximum'

Good shout about the ODI's who's top dog batting atm Kohli? Never going to reach Tendulkar is he?

I can't see anyone reaching 10,000 runs in ODI's anymore.

Harry Brook could score 10000 I think
Assuming he'd have to play 120-150 tests to score that many runs.

Test cricket won't exist by the time he's played that many tests.

I hope I'm wrong but if it does survive till after 2030 it will be massively diminished in terms of the amount played.

So maybe add someone playing 120+ test matches again under the age of 30

If not gone then probably more of those pointless 2 test series that other countries play
