Jack Clarke

Clarke was brilliant with his attitude and commitment to us. He could have been a right punt like Pritchard and forced a move away, but no he gave his all every time he pulled the shirt on. I honestly think he was happy at Sunderland but his agent was determined to get a move away for him this summer. Personally I think he would have been happy for another season with us.
Aye but like Pritchard he’s gone. Hopefully people let him go. Doubt it like.

I think people get attached to players they have seen grow and agree that they will probably keep Clarke close. If we had the cash to keep him, things may have been different.

Maybe he wanted to go mate. We may have had the cash to keep him. He’s gone to a premier league club and best of luck to him. I won’t be giving him a second thought on match days.

You do know he didn't 'have' to do whatever his agent says don't you?

Maybe this was a blessing in disguise Jack going? Letting Mundle get on the pitch and show his class - maybe letting go that thought that we rely on JC and without him we won’t do well, because it’s clearly not what we’re about and i’ll be the first to admit I thought our season was down the pan once i seen jack clarke had gone.

Can’t disagree with this. There’s a small but increasing chance we could be swapping divisions with Ipswich
He would still be on Prem wages
Mundle will get more goals and assists this season than Jack will playing in a struggling team for whom he is not the main man. That won’t worry him as he has a living to make and a future to secure- just like Ross Stewart did.

Yep even if Ipswich go down he most likely ends up back in the Championship on a bigger wage in a team that is going for promotion, it was a no brainer for him really.

Trying to look at it from the player's point of view, the lad's still early in his career, but he'd probably reached a bit of a ceiling with us. Guaranteed pick every week and Championship full backs were starting to not really be a challenge. A year's a long time when it comes to growing as a player and he maybe felt he needed to put himself in a less secure situation to keep improving. The extra money couldn't hurt either.

Wish the lad all the best tbh. Hope he can break into their team and stick a few past the mags this season.
