Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Caen are making a big mistake for making Mendy unhappy. Thats not a good well run club. We offered a bid and why would we change the bid that they want it more. However, well done to sunderland to withdrew the bid. We're not a fool.

Disappointing, he looked like the strong type of striker we could have done with.

The pressure is on to bring someone in before tomorrow night, its a massive ask to pin our hopes on isidor alone. Mayenda has filled in ok but he is still a couple of years before he is ready to play regularly at this level.

We've been saying this for the last 3 windows mate. "This window is crucial for Speakman to get a striker in with (window 1 - Stewart leaving), (windows 2 & 3 - Stewart left)". The window opens, closes, no permanent, first team ready striker is signed. The next window opens and the happy clappers start again with the "Dont panic, there' still X weeks left in the window, it doesn't close until end of August/January", bollocks.

We've started great, we've got a very good first XI but the depth needs improving and we cant expect to go through a season with just Mayenda, Rusyn and Isidor as the only centre forward options. Isidor is unknown at this point, Mayenda works really hard and has improved but cant be 1st choice all year and Rusyn is never going to be a striker as long as i've got a hole in my arse.
 
He’s not happy, Caen may well now negotiate rather than be stuck with him. They obviously hoped we’d blink first and we haven’t.
