Yeah, of course it’s a risk, buying & selling players always is, but the rewards could be huge. @andy78 also makes a good point about the value this guy can bring to the development of the youngsters.

They don't appear to be in too big a hurry for promotion. I think they'll just keep things the same, possibly might spend £3m on Mendy to plug the gap and anything else will be to develop for next season. If we can get 4 or 5 more good players in by this time next year we'll be looking good I think. We might be a bit short of quality depth this season, if injuries hit, it might cost us points, but I think it will still be a decent season with play-off interest till the end.

I'm not a fan of KLD for various reasons and It's a shame he hasn't shown more ambition and pushed the boat out this season by spending a bit, £10m could have gone a long way, but he doesn't seem to want to do that.

However, when things are going wrong and we appear to be flapping around like amateurs, it's easy to forget that we have a lot of excellent young talent in the first team (and a couple below) and at their ages we are only going to get stronger and richer.

It's just frustrating waiting for it.

That's a very valid point and shouldn't be underestimated. With Clarke, I firm believe it got to the point where we simply couldn't afford what he was genuinely worth.

While I'm really disappointed that the level of players that we can attract because of a wage structure that appears to be absolutely necessary, it's always at the back of my mind that, perhaps unlike many others, we are not putting our whole club at risk living beyond our means. And yet, we still have a phenomenal team with so much potential.

When isee the likes of Coventry paying what they did for Simms, there's a pang of jealousy, but I'd also be shaking my head because they clearly cannot keep doing that within FFP.

You haven't learned a thing over the last 5 years about the state our clubs been in have you. Absolute dunce.
