"digging in"

This reminds me of years ago, when were back in our club congratulating a mate of ours for batting out a draw against a West Indian pro, he scored 1 not out of about 20 odd overs, loads of people were coming up to him and saying well done as he was normally a second teamer and had just filled in for first team as short.

Later on the night after seeing all these people come up to him one of our none cricketing friends eventually said how many did you get then?

And my mate said 1, my other matecould not believe it!

He kept saying how come loads of people in the club are praising you for scoring 1!

Played in a game once where we bowled Easington out for about 27 and we were 8 down chasing it, with the opener at one end 0* at the other end.

Not sure what the context of the game was but that is a waste of everyone’s time

I’m sure they’ve got the points wrong, I don’t know the points structure for that league and I’m not enough of a badger to go and find out but surely you get more than 3 points for a draw 🤷‍♂️

I think regarding the context, I’ve got a feeling that they’ve obviously been pissed off at the opposition for running up the score considering one bloke got about 70% of the total on his own - maybe he’s a bit of a bandit

Likewise not interested enough to look up their points system, but the NYSD still has draws and with a “losing draw” of that magnitude the side batting second would get no points at all for it, just their bonus points. So it’s plausible. (They still stop the side batting first getting the full points though.)

To be honest, if you are in a league where this is the system, then I would be at least partly blaming the side batting first for taking the piss with the target. Unless, and who knows at this late stage of the season, they were also happy with a draw.

Once opened the batting (was probably 18/19) as a few of our team we're going to be late, thankfully we had won the toss!

I was in for 14/15 overs and faced probably around 50 balls without scoring. Not through lack of trying mind  in the end I did threaten to just knock my own nails off, couldn't get bat on ball at all.

But in this game, genuinely think I'd have walked off. Nothing worse than draws when teams just bat out and don't try and win.

stinks of a ringer playing, if you’ve got the ability to score nearly 200 on your own you ain’t playing in div 9 of the Derbyshire league

Yeah totally agree mate, we don’t know the full situation but in general think it bad for the game doing it with 10 wickets in hand.

Nowt against teams going for the draw when backs against the wall and have lost a few wickets and all chance gone,

But have and always do hate it, when they do it from the off and have all wickets in hand and don’t even attempt to win
But like I say think probably something else went on in this game that we don’t know all of what happened
