Car Crash 16.4…

Which one provides test cricketers for England, which in turn brings millions of pounds into the ECB coffers?
Isn’t the point though to get people into cricket in the first place which is surely a win win, if more people watch the hundred that will hopefully spread to more people watching the game of cricket full stop.

Then hopefully more will watch the county championship and England as their interest in cricket will have been found which otherwise possibly may not have been.

It’s seems it always has to be one knocking the other or vice versa.

Surely if more people watching cricket that’s good, not bad?????

Let’s get more people watching and playing cricket?

Yes?
Car crash Hundred????

Edgbaston 15000 attendance. 2000 paid on the day.

County Championship day 2. Edgbaston.

397 Attendance. 2 paying spectators on the day rest were members.

Which one is the car crash exactly??
It’s bad you keep knocking the county championship that provides players for England.

Let’s get the investment into the The Hundred get more people watching cricket full stop including the county championship

T20 can do the job of everything you suggested in your post much better.

And it doesn't compete with outside tournaments such as the Olympics. The BBC allegation that T20 is too long for them to broadcast is bollocks.

Investors only invest for Profit. The domestic T20 has gets people in to cricket at far less cost. Can't understand why you can't see that. This world's best is poppycock. Newcomers wouldn't appreciate the"world's best" being paid obscene salaries.Appreciate their local team with whom they'll identify with. The primary aim should be to get youngsters playing the game. If speculating attracts the they can watch the world's best displaying their true skills in Test matches. They're call test matches for that reason
Speculating not speculating
Spectating not speculating.

I agree I would like to see a T20 competition on the telly every night instead of The Hundred.

But saying that happy we seeing cricket on all the time and it been promoted as want more people involved in it full stop

Seems to be a roaring success in India having the worlds best playing each other, kids and all concerned are loving it and the SA20 seems to be heading that way too

Cricket been promoted highly and only the telly is a good thing whatever the format.

As for your first point yet again I repeat would be more than happy for a domestic county based tournament as T20 to be on the telly every night

Do you seriously believe that
(a) investors in franchises will allow their product to be shown on fta TV?
(b)we should encourage youngsters to sit watching tv every evening. Is this the best way to encourage youngsters participation?
(c)England can compete with India in cricket interest and participation

Cricket popularity in this country rises when we win the Ashes here.

The ECB should concentrate on producing an Ashes winning team. And that does not mean reducing the CC or playing with Kookaburra balls.

And it definitely doesnt mean invent a pointless tournament and play it at the height of summer isolating every thing else.

Is the way forward to get players into schools ,get the kids playing and give them cheap or free entry into their local i.e accessible T20
Or
Promote a tournament which pays obscene salaries to participants and isn't accessible to attend in the vast majority of the country.

I'm told that today's gate receipts from Old Trafford are significantly more than that from all of Manchester Scampi Fries' home games combined.

It’s never been full in 4 days it’s hardly demand
Of course it's demand.Nobody's is being forced to attend.
I assume that the post comparing the attendances was a light hearted quip comparing the vast difference in update receipts between serious cricket and the less intense format.

Not denying it would be value for money. I love test cricket, but I can’t afford to take the family for the day

i find it hard to believe that they made more today than in 4 days of the hundred, as the at least one game was sold out

And if that was case today it has to be that it’s because the tickets are way more expensive as it was nowhere close to sold out Today

Well it’s 4 times the price for a test ticket
It's not, it's about 40% of the price of the test: £20 vs £48

Problem for the 16.4 is that between ticket giveaways and discounts the price paid per head is around £7.

And that's before you factor in that people are in the ground and spending for 3 times longer and the cash taken at the venue.

If you're looking at pure revenue, this test match will be close to covering 70-80% of the entirety of the 16.4.

They’ll deffo make more form food and especially drink at a test that’s for sure, games I’ve been to there’s a lot more families and a lot less drinking at the hundred ones, more of a family demographic

15,000 attendance in a stadium that can hold 26,000 in a market with 1.6 million people in it. Well done.

They show England t20 games, but I like what they’ve done to speed the game up a bit in the hundred, 2 overs from one end, 60 seconds between batters, cut off points with fielding penalties, and the 3rd umpire reviews don’t hang about either,

And if you want to squeeze those extra overs in, I think rather than a cut off point have almost a shot clock per ball, if you miss it either a run penalty or a field restriction
