Jack Clarke

We were never going to buy an outright replacement for Clarke expected to come straight in and take over where he left off in the first place. That's not how we operate. We'll ease some young lad into the role we picked up relatively on the cheap just like we did with Clarke himself.
This- I think we have to distinguish between Clarkes importance to the team in terms of contributions etc. and a left winger.

I think we have already replaced and have cover for the LW position- I think the hope is that Jobe will grow into the talismanic role over the season (Amad was this player the season before, and Stewart the season before that- Americans say MVP right)

We evidently had a zero budget for transfer fees this summer mate. In fact, probably hardly anything for wages either as Isidor only arrived when this was done.
That's what pisses me off the most about it all. The wagebill will have increased with the signings of Browne and Poveda and extensions to Ballard, Jobe and Rigg but much of that will be offset by releasing Evans, Embleton (plus the transfer fee) and getting shot of Pritchard 6 months early. So in effect we've had a budget of close to zero despite the promises about learning lessons and had to sell to buy despite the gaping hole up front for the last 18 months.

I can accept that Stewart was sold too late in the window last year to reinvest but we were sold 'the model' as only selling when the deal was right for us and reinvesting to ensure we strengthen the squad overall. Unless we pull a rabbit out in the next week we've lost our two best players for £25m combined and have Leo Hjelde, a loanee from Russia and a couple of contract extensions to show for it. I don't expect us to spend every penny we receive as the club is still operating at a loss but we're a lot weaker than we were two years ago.

Couldn’t agree more mate

£15m is nothing in todays market really. It certainly won’t buy another player that has had Clarke’s impact. It would honestly be worth losing the £7.5m per season trying to get promoted and letting him go on a free if not.

Ipswich still haven’t stopped laughing.
It’d make sense to us as fans but as a business it makes no sense. Its basically gambling £15m quid.
