Jack Clarke

Clarke has ultimately signed for a premier team.

My problem is we could’ve made him an offer that made him sign a longer deal last season instead of giving deals to players we don’t need like pembele/hjelde/hemir to and a few.

The wage they take could’ve easily covered extensions to Clarke and neil that would’ve put us in a stronger position if premier league clubs come to try and poach our players.

We’ve padded the squad out with pure shite instead of securing all of our assets.

Dan neil will be the same next summer.

This is the thing most haven't noticed. The 2 biggest earners in dack and Clarke are gone. Wagebill will be hugely down on last year up to now.

Your problem is you don't understand Clarke was an educated punt when we signed him. One or two will come off. Plenty won't.

I’m well aware he was “an educated punt “!!

Doesn’t stop us from realising like 99% of our fans that his first season in the championship turned him from a punt to a proper asset.

Then when he improved again and took the piss last season we could’ve took another “punt” that premier league clubs might be interested in him and offer him a wage that would secure him on a long term deal that maximises our profit if he did have to be sold ???

Premier League clubs weren't that interested in him. I agree it seems bonkers selling him for the price we got for him. I just think we need accept we'll kiss plenty of frogs to unearth the odd Prince.

Which begs the question……..
Why did we sell him ?
Is it cos he demanded to leave ?
I don’t think so.
Is it cos we are skint ?
I think so.
Why are we skint ?
I don’t know.
Or he was given assurances that surprisingly were not met ?

Who knows ?
I can say he loved the football side here
Time now to move on

He wouldn’t have signed a longer contract. He needed that leverage to get to the Prem. We just wasted a year

I do accept our owners are looking to buy cheap and sell high.

What I’m less willing to accept is that £15 million rising to 20 of which we lose 25%
For an attacking player that’s been outstanding for 2 years in the championship and stood out is a fee that none of the people who watch him week in week out would accept !!

He’s got 2 years left.
If he helped us to go up this season had we rejected this offer do u think he’d be in hurry to sign for Ipswich next year ?

We have a really good core of young british talent that could grow together.

Patterson neil Ballard Clarke Hume cirkin and alese.

Back then and build around them and we have as good a chance as anyone to go up.

I can’t accept £15 million rising to 20 for Clarke is too good to turn down !!

Unless there is a release clause in that we don’t know about.

Wonder what was in Jacks contract with us ?
They do tend to contain many “ assurances “
No doubt we will hear what’s gone on -two sides to this possibly

Buy cheap and sell high is the secret of success in any business. If we are able to do that consistently the good times will role.

The transfer fee does seem well short. It seems the club think they can shuffle the deck and win. It kind of brings us back to the start though. We've got a platform to kick on. Two or three players could move us a few levels. If we get those players the duds don't matter.

I'll quickly forget about Jack Clarke if these 3 attackers we're after all sign and the momentum continues. We've got Rusyn, Poveda, Watson and now Isisdor all queuing up for the LW slot, lots of options. I hope Isidor is great on the RW and proves to be a better option than Roberts, less said about Ba the better. Really like the look of Mendy & Simic, they'll add a lot up front. Big shout to RLB, liking what I'm seeing and hearing so far.

We won’t be in the PL next season. Selling Clarke for that fee at this rage with 2 years left shows the ambition of the club.

Im just thankful we have 6 points. 44 points or so to stay up. If anyone thinks we’ll challenge for the top 6 I laugh now ha ha !

More likely to challenge top six than to be in a relegation fight. Will be a tough league this year though.
