Wonder whether we have our own sell on clause in this deal which could explain the lower fee.

If we are now able to bring in Simic, Isidor AND Mendy in exchange for selling Clarke, I think that leaves us stronger overall

Philogene has gone for less than Clarke and is a lot younger.

There has been interest but just not all at the same time. I always said it would be limited to clubs at bottom quarter anyway.

I just dont see when Summerville for example is going for 27m we can be happy with 15m plus a 5m add on which we have no idea if it's an actual extra payment or a clause which has to be met 'add in'siggedts the latter.

Whilst many are suggesting it's good business rather than loose him in two years or trying to justify it I don't feel unless we are told we will definitely get 20k is represents good business or market value. I think the club simply do not want his contract getting into the last year and need the money to do other business.

We didn't. The going rate is clearly and undeniably higher than that. He's signing for a club who are going to be on the back foot from pretty much the first day of the season til the last, which doesn't play to his strengths in the slightest
 
Feels like we have little money to spend on the additional strikers/forwards required so have agreed to a lower offer in order to bring in the cash required. A bit short sighted as maybe investing to bring in these additional players and keeping Clarke world actually bring greater returns. They just don't want to gamble though and fall back on the sustainability talk. I'd have thought we'd get more for Clarke also if we just hold on longer towards the end of the window.

There are variables with all transfers - Ross Stewart couldn't walk and we got £10M for him. The point is, Jack's transfer fee is not an absurdly low figure and clubs in the Championship are selling good players in this ball park (price wise), frequently.
