Jack Clarke

Are more people on here pissed off by the fact that we are actually selling him or the price that we've got for him?

For me I was always expecting him to leave this summer to fund our recruitment but expected it to be a lot earlier, but was thinking that hadn't happened because no-one had met our value of him.

For him to go for £15m plus add ons is peanuts for a player of his quality in today's market. I could've accepted the £25m that was banded about as for top Championship wingers, that is a very decent fee. How are we expecting to reinvest and make the squad as a whole better with barely £10m to spend, and that's if we even spend that much.

I don't think a single person is really upset hes leaving, it's the fee they have a problem with. Everyone knew he would be off if a 'good' bid came in.

Problem is, the players and their agents know how to manufacture a move
They know a player can effectively stop trying so much and be a disruptive influence on a team. A move in this case is better for everyone
On top of all this is the need to balance the books, last accounts showed a loss
Probably need to be realistic as sad as it is he’s leaving

It's the fee pissing everyone off. I was excited for Saturday, people are just gonna be pissed off now

Aye, although it doesn't look like Clarke has stopped trying or been disruptive., I fully appreciate the agent has probably been on the phone to express the urgency to move though

Seeing a lot of comments saying the fee won't be invested anyway. So if that's the case what does it matter if we got 20m or 25m?
It sets the bar for clubs to come in and take the piss when it comes to Ballard etc as well now, knowing Sunderland are happy to have their pants pulled down

I think just about everyone will be thinking it's the value of the deal which angers them. Which is exactly how I think. accepted he was going end of last season.

Summerville played 49 games, scored 21 and assisted 10 last season. He’s younger and more likely to succeed in Prem and went for £25m.

£20m is probably about right.

Good deal for us but poor deal for Clarke who is making a sideways step at best. He’ll soon realise that when playing in front of a few thousand rather than 40k+ passionate mackems.
He’s a year younger, how is he more likely to succeed? Based on what, your opinion?

The price. Should have been a clear £25m in SAFC pocket at least.

I agree on all of this apart from the 'sideways step' part - No matter what, Ipswich are a Prem club now, it's a step up in every sense. It's only because they've overtaken us from League 1 and only had one season in the Championship that we see it as a sideways step.

I know Harte seems the type to do that, but Clarke has been quoted many times saying that he loves it here and in his own words stated that he won't force a move and will be professional. He turned up to training yesterday amid all the speculation and if anything was wrong about his attitude, Regis would've said something about it in his presser but he didn't as Clarke is a professional.

The club aren't arsed about kicking on and challenging immediately. The sole purpose is selling players so the owners don't have to pay the transfer fees and reduce the overhead bill for the year.

Everyone is saying 15M + add ons.

I thought it was 20M + add ons and a sell on clause? (Romano)

The latter is still slightly under value for what I’d have liked us to have held out for but it is a difference from what the majority of posters are saying? Unless Romano was wrong but I’d take his word over many others?

Need to find out final fee thou as if it's £20m with add ons and 20% sell on fee that could be £25m
