Jack Clarke

Every penny of that fee needs to be invested in the squad by bringing in players ready for the championship or things will be incredibly toxic. The club really better have a plan in place and move quickly. If they piss about an sign unknowns again I can't see them lasting long at all.

Sick of hearing this incredibly toxic narrative. We don't do incredibly toxic and haven't for many a year. We dropped from the Prem to League 1 in succeeded seasons with barely a murmur of discontent. Last season was a shitshow and nobody really complained.

If you think everyone's going to kick off over this you are sadly mistaken.

 Classic attempt to switch the blame for his leaving to the club, to stay sweet with our fans. “I’m being forced into signing this multi-million pound contract, i tells you.”
Exactly, his team are responsible. Ipswich have been encouraged to make a bid by people managing jack Clarke. The player himself has known how his advisors have been routing him about.

“Remember we were in league 1 not that long ago, stop being bedwetters”

As Premier League Ipswich, who we left behind in league 1 just over 2 year ago, come in and take our best player off us.
We signed Will Grigg and that didn’t work out though 5 years ago!!!!!

Hard to believe Clarke is happy to leave for a club who realistically are dead certs to be relegated. Ipswich will be back in the Championship next season so where’s the progression for him?

He must have a say in his future he’s not just a commodity to be traded, he owns the rights to his own intellectual property ( him in effect ). He has a contract so he could refuse and sit on the bench if he wanted even though we know that wouldn’t happen as he’s the best player at the club.

If he goes then that raises questions about his ambition or his financial ambition.

How is moving up a division not a progression?

I could understand this outlook if we were also in the PL but as it stands Ipswich are a more attractive prospect than us. Both on the pitch and financially for a player.

They may well come back down but there’s no guarantee we will go up either so if he chose to stay he’s arguably showing even less ambition.

Just the way it is sadly. Players will always move on for more money in the PL.

they’ve shown there ambition

Couple of quid in the bank whilst not having a side that is realistically going to challenge promotion.

As long as we are self sufficient who gives a fuck about the football side of things
Could spend a load and go the way of Stoke I guess

Mate no offence but pack it in. You might have a source you might not. He’s going. Don’t build peoples hopes up.
****’s trick. The lad’s not signed a new deal for a reason, and that reason hasn’t gone away.

Premier League football and a likely doubling of his wages. It’s a no-brainer for him.

Ipswich are capable of staying up tbh.

His agent is the biggest culprit in all of this, he's been lurking about the AoL all pre-season posting on X his whereabouts, he's very more than likely verbally agreed a massive wage rise at Ipswich which has turned Clarke's head and made him request the trasnfer.
Footballers are generally thick as mince but to be led by your agent because he fancies a bonus just when you’re enjoying a good start to the season is a bit of a stretch. Especially when what the agent is proposing is a move to a club who most would see as being in the bottom 3 in May next year.

be the same if we got promoted. absolute certs for the drop as no chance we'd spend enough. least Ipswich appear to go giving it a go and have money to spend. they did so in the championship and we wouldn't (or couldn't) compete with them financially. he'll be massively increasing his wages regardless of them going down at the end of the season. surprised no one else was in for him like but if this is all that's on the table you can't really blame him for taking it

On days rife with transfer rumours and twists like today, I'm grateful we have a forum of level headed footballing experts who are more than happy to engage in reasonable evidence-based discussion and debate

Is it official he is going to Ipswich?
