Roko Simic - potential signing

For all the talk of how all our recent signings are great and worth more than what we paid for them, and that we are in a much better place than we were in league 1, we started the game at the weekend with 7 players who were at the club when we were in league 1!

I’d say the only players who’ve come in and are a good improvement on previous squad players are Jobe & Ballard, which funnily enough marries up with what the managers think as well.

The rest have not really pulled up any more trees than the likes of Bailey Wright, batth, Doyle, Pritchard et al.
Hume, Clarke and Neil weren't starters for the L1 playoff final. Which itself goes to prove how our development "model" works, they would be 3 of the first names on the team sheet in the Championship.

That is why it's too early to say a lot of these transfers are failures. People are saying all our signings last season were shite, Jobe has had PL interest and Mayenda has 2 goals in 150 minutes this season, and has looked a threat. For Triantis, Mundle, Seelt, Auochiche and many others it's too soon to write them off.

The first 11 we have is , imo , a very very good starting 11.

I'm not saying you are, but some of our fans are imo a bit deluded that we should be able to go out and bring in players who are better than the starting 11 from Sunday and improve the first team easily.

The best way to do this has been by getting young players in as to get a left sided player in who is better than Clarke or cirkin, a midfielder better than Neil , Browne , Bellingham and rigg, a right side player better than Hume and Roberts and a defender better than Ballard 09 and alese - it's tricky unless you're going to spend 5/10 mil or more as that is what most of these are now worth - that's the team KS has delivered.
unfortunately for new players coming in the starting 11 is so good that it's hard for these players to get a run in the side.

It doesn't mean they are Duds. It just means they aren't as good as Clarke.
Wasn't that long ago you were staying that Hume was a dud and would be nowhere near the starting 11.

Meyander, mundle , aouchiche may all prove to be useful additions to add to the quality starting 11 that KS and KLD have given us.
Striker aside , even the most negative on here surely thinks that our starting 11 from Saturday is pretty f***ing good ? And thats with browne , Ballard and ekwah all as subs. Be happy if those 3 started.

So not dudds, just young players who aren't as good as Roberts or clarke.
The majority of that first 11 were at the club in league one before speakman was in charge of recruitment though. Im in agreement that it’s a very good first 11 but bar a few players brought in since recruitment has not made any headway yet. Some might but I’ve liked the looks of more of the under 21 team last season than some of the players we’ve brought in.

Were they all speakman purchases? I get players need time but so far not many have looked much better to me than players we used to have in the squad.

to counter this, maybe that's because they've been at the club long enough to develop into the players they are, same will happen for some of the new ones
so he is not at the aol as reported in croatia then?
Sunderland echo also said Will Still was 'not a contender'

Do you really not think Alesse is better than a 17yo callus Doyle or Bailey Wright?
