Jack Clarke

I'd suggest that they don't want to sell him NOW and they'll be encouraged by his stance that he's happy here.
Fair enough, I disagree. They'll be desperate to get to around £25m and they'd snap their hands off.

If he doesn't go they either have to give him a massive pay rise (that they don't want to) or watch his value drop significantly next summer.

If he doesn't want to be here

Let him go

Whilst he is a great player who we will miss

I'd rather see players who want to be here. Look at the likes of Ballard, Jobe, Rigg etc who can see what the club are trying to do.
Yes but all that happens is we end up flogging Jobe and Rigg in a year or two because they want to be playing Prem football and we wont be able to give them it.

We need to have a serious go at the league which in itself will retain our best players. If we sell Clarke we are going to be nowhere near this year.

The worry is, its the sort of thing thats added on when the two clubs are close to a valuation to tempt the selling club over the edge?
But that’s my point, there’s no guarantee of the ‘add on’ money so what’s in it for the selling club?

If we want £25M for him, we don’t want £20M up front then £5M in add ons that we might never see, we want £25M (for example)

This is the main thing. People are deluded if they think the club don't want to sell.

A player getting offers around £20m who they have no intention of paying the wage to give a new contract to and he's coming into the final 2 years of his deal
Compare that to the amount of money the club would get if promoted. It’s peanuts in comparison. Short term thinking not looking at the bigger picture.

Agree with this, as much as theyre coming out with saying they want him to stay, they can easily do that by refusing to sell and offering a bump in wage.

They want the sale and 25M in the coffers, It clears the debt Kyril has amassed over the last three years and puts us back into an even healthier financial state.

You've got to be a real cynic to think KLD would throw his biggest asset to achieving promotion to the promise land for the sake of small debt the club is in, as all clubs are. An even bigger cynic to think they'd sell him and not replace him.

That debt is going to be turned in to equity so it’s never paid back in cash terms. Another KLD “promise”.

Got to take it if gets to £25M, it’s the point of the model.

But the “model” isn’t ready for the sales to start. We currently have 12 players who are good enough to start, a couple more who are injured and a couple who could just about get by.

Sell Clarke, the replacement is Mundle. Mundle isn’t even as good as Clarke was for us in League 1. Most of the players we’ve bought who should’ve been the replacements for the likes of Clarke, Neil, Stewart, Ballard aren’t ready yet.

You don't have to sell me on that idea. But we are talking about people who wouldn't renew Stewarts contract when banging them in and seemingly can't/won't pay to seriously try and renew Clarkes.

Sure they've came out and said they won't take risks to get promoted. I agree with you but got zero faith in the club to get him to stay

"sell Clarke the replacement is Mundle"

Just like Lihadji was the Diallo replacement
Just like Rusyn was Clarkes replacement

You don't know that Mundle is objectively the replacement for Clarke.

I agree. Not convinced we'd see close to all of it reinvested either at this point

All I've seen is newspaper speculation that they've made a bid, usual transfer window crap on social media. I'll hang fire on worrying about his transfer until something actually happens, as it stands he looks like a player happy enough with where he's at.

If the club say the aim is promotion they need to prove it. Selling such an important player so late in the window is tantamount to saying you’re not serious about promotion despite stating otherwise.

Can’t see it happening unless tge bid is crazy money. Lazio bid more last year.
