I guess them selling one of their squad players to cov for more than we reportedly have offered or around about what we did kind of puts into perspective what they’ll be asking for their star striker. I think we’ve buckled and what they value him at, can’t blame them if they were getting that same money from a player that was way down on how important they were to the side like mendy just like us with Clarke he means way more to us than the reported silly fees teams like Burnley in the past and Ipswich seemingly value him at.
 
i actually like the clubs approach.
Everyone knows we need a striker so they will try and screw us for an extra 20-30%
Club will have a pretty strict formula as part of the model of what he is worth.
Will stop other clubs playing daft arse with us on other deals once they know we are willing to move on.
Caen will be left with a player who is unhappy and no fee - and lets face it French football is fucked right now financially
all their loss not ours.

They’ve just been taking over mate they’ll be one of the few teams in that division not needing to shift players, hence we seemingly had a gentleman’s agreement before they were taken over. Selling a squad player to a team in our division will also shown they won’t be fucked about for their main man. We know football he will be back playing this season if he doesn’t get a move probably signing a new contract we all know it’s all just bullshit and coin talks.

I think they already sold another striker to Cardiff earlier in the window too, before their new owners came in.
