Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

This is just us either moving on which with how highly rated this Isidor seems to be he could be a better option than Mendy or a tactic to get Caen to sell him.

Isidor was in the verge of going to Lyon in Jan 2023 but an injury stopped it. He looks to have the attributes we want too.

Will be an interesting few days
Signing a bloke with a suspect knee and only him will be a risk. But that's what we do every year.

Spot on.Its not rocket science, to give ourselves the very best opportunity of at least making the play offs you would sign two instead of one. Mayenda certainly has ability but we just cannot rely on the young lad week in and week out.Personally I think £3m is a sum we should pay for Mendy not a penny more and do everything we can to let Hemir (who I just see making it in this country) and Rusyn out on loan, easier said than done!
In the region of £3m was supposedly our latest offer. They’re looking at €5m (around £4.3m).

So we’re right to walk away from this deal going off that then?

Your view on Rusyn may differ from mine mate which is fine. Personally I think he is a very average footballer, I don’t see many Championship teams if any who would be remotely interested in taking him on loan.
I think he serves a purpose, I'm also reluctant to write off players too soon. He's another option at the end of the day. I'm not saying he's a starter, but his energy and determination can be of benefit particularly as the game winds down.

Crazy money for a player who's 30 and plying his trade in the french second division. I can't see many if any teams paying that sort of money.

He doesn’t have a suspect knee, he had an injury and spent time on the sidelines and recovered. Which was included in Lyon’s statement which was “ he needs time on the sidelines to recover”

Separate post - surely the fact Lyon were basically about to get him show that he clearly has the ability and talent there? Would this not be him playing in a better standard than Mendy?

Yes I think £3m for a 30 year old playing in the French second tier is the maximum I would be paying. I just hope the owner isn’t blinkered and only signs one. Two good forwards and Mayenda and our chances of at least top six are massively improved.

I doubt our highest bid was that much but if it was I certainly wouldn't be wanting to raise it higher.

Pull the plug and if they come back in coming days saying they do want to sell then give them a tiny bit more so they can save face and say our latest bid finally matched their valuation.

But assume it's off and move onto other targets.

I think we need 2 tbh. Ideally at least 1 permanent

Mayenda isn’t going on loan, honestly a ridiculous faction of this board are completely obsessed with loaning out every single player who might not start every game, it’s utterly mental
We have a bloated squad of over 30 odd players. What do you propose we do with the fringe players that aren't going to make the match day squad? We need to sell or loan at least 6 and possibly more.
Unhappy players who won't feature are not going to do anything for team morale. They should be getting game time and if we can't attract any buyers the only option is to loan them out. RLB has already stated that the squad is too big and the players who aren't in his plans can find a move away.

It's not really 'utterly mental' to want to only work with players who have a chance of being involved and not having the others hanging about like a bad smell when they aren't going to get a look in.

I never said some of them don’t need to be moved on/loaned out.

Clearly Mayenda isn’t in that category now though

I’ve seen people suggesting loaning out the likes of Ba as well

We need a squad
