I said a few days ago, he's got the attributes but he needs 1) coaching on how RLB wants him to play and 2) it will come, with experience. Seems he's getting both at the moment.

Still had a lot to do with the first one! Second one is exactly the kind of goal we have been crying out for, for over a year now. Someone who is willing to make that run. I’ve been critical of the lad, he’s most certainly not the finished article on the ball but his off the ball work is impressive and he’s getting himself into some brilliant positions, he clearly fits the way the manager likes to play and has grabbed his opportunity with both hands. Had the ref not bought there big defender jumping on the ground 2-3 times we may well have seen a hatrick from the lad he gave him a torrid time.

Think he’s a lot more thankful under RLBs regime than Dodds/Beale too.

RLBs tactics has more bodies forward and pushed further up, puts him under less pressure to try and take on half of the opposition every time.

Even with the striker saga still unresolved, Clarke staying is the single most important thing this window.

For a championship team a player like him is completely irreplaceable.

On Mendy though - any striker worth his salt would have to be absolutely champing at the bit to play for a team with Clarke and Roberts in form and playing out wide.

As a lad whose made a big move before and ended up being farmed out all over I think he’s more appreciative than most of having a place you feel at home, and you’re the star of the show.

Hoping that might be enough to get him to stay on and give us one more crack at it. Like Neil, I think he’d rather go up with us than move if possible.

Yes, still need 2 permanent experienced strikers. Mayenda would be one of three and have less pressure on him which will aid him longer term.
 
After today's amazing win.

It's even more exciting to think we're performing like this and are missing:

Ballard
Poveda
Browne
Huggins
Seelt (still very early days for the lad)

And Mendy or another is likely to sign.

Chuffed to bits for both Mayenda (and us) after he scored two today.

There's plenty of games and the championship is a grind. Changes in formation, poor form and injuries happen. Its what we need, not what I expect to happen.
