Tommy Conway - Mutants

No idea if he will be any good but jut looking at their team they have 5 senior strikers now, it defies belief for me that we can compete with these teams when we have one senior winger who we try to play as a striker

Any signing SAFC make will be a gamble.
In our position, with our model, paying our fees and paying our wages there’s no “sure thing” on the planet going to sign for us.
If the add ones are a significant part of the fees spent on Hemir, Rusyn and Mayenda are dependent on any of them finding the net now and again we might not have spent much up to now. Should we be subjected to further rubber stamping in the strikers department by persistently playing personnel who failed miserably last season won't be much consolation to fans by witnessing a repeat of it.

Carrick said in his interview about him, he is the right age, we think there is a high ceiling, we can make him better etc.

Clubs in the championship aren't buying the finished article these days. We will see. It's a risk of course but we aren't spending £10m.

Poor managerial appointments. Southgate after McLaren went to England, Strachan after that, giving millions to Gary Monk. Pulis after that. Then Woodgate. Wilder was a prick.

Mowbray and Warnock were ok and had to clean up the mess from previous appointments. If Gibson had appointed better we would undoubtedly spent more time in PL.

Now we have gone down the route of Kieran Scott as DoF and Carrick. It's the best feeling round the club in around 15 years. Of course it could all go to shit but I think Gibson passing control to Kieran Scott is looking promising. Latte Lath, Rogers, Van Den Berg have been brilliant buys for relative peanuts. Initial signs are we could be onto a winner.
I think the key for us is that we have an internal civil war within the RGS ( Pro & Anti) where everyone's points are correct, but we are roundhead or cavaliers. So currently we deserve to be in the Prem based on our fan base and historical size of club. So everything is shit or blinkered and everyone is trying to point score over each other (I am even doing it here).
I would have liked Carrick here as I think he could have done wonders for Dan Neil.
Steve Gibson is ultimately a fan so even though he is ambitious and happily lost over £100m on his club he is not always making the best decisions for your club.

That's including 5 penalties...
Which for all you know, he won all of himself.

Ive no idea why you're bashing him, i guess because boro signed him?

A 22 year old with 24 career goals in this country is the sort of signing that looks ideal to our model, sell ekwah, buy this lad and we look much closer to play offs than with mayenda and nobody

He won one penalty according the the very good stats I found.

You seem desperate to justify Boro buying a bloke who scored 5 league goals from open play in 39 games for £4.5M. Don't forget that 1 assist! All a bit odd?

His stats are shite quite frankly but he may prove to be a bargain, completely crap or somewhere in between. Who knows?

His stats are shite quite frankly

shite stats that we can only dream of. he's scored more goals across the last two seasons than all of our strikers put together.

i'm just sick of our total lack of ambition and the fact that now it seems it has spread to our fans, mocking other clubs buying players and buying into this shite that we shouldn' expect better, we can't afford the fee, we can't afford the wages a 22 year old at bristol city would command, KLD and speakman must be buzzing that our expectations have dropped so low.

Just because we haven't secured a striker doesn't mean every striker anybody else buys is some sort of world beater.

If our scouts are worth there salt I hope they would have looked at this kid, saw the stats (not including penalties) and thought he isn't worth what Bristol are after as he clearly isn't!

That's not to say he couldn't hit the ground running and prove a success. That's life.

Sunderland were after David Connelly and ended up with a 2nd choice in Kevin Phillips. The rest is history...
