Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

This apparent standstill ties in with what RLB said in his press conference.

No further forward but still hoping for a breakthrough on the striker in the next few days.

Well it seems like Mendy would be here instantly if we can agree something with Caen, so any breakthrough and it'll he done sharpish.

It seemed to be mentioned alongside a player moving. I wonder if we need to agree something with udinese for ekwah to use the money for mendy?

Could be aye and with Neil being made captain and us switching to a single pivot at 6, Ekwah's not going to play as much as he needs but even if that happens, Mendy in, Ekwah out, we'd then need another CM.

The fact he isn’t training and not named in squad is very positive for us. Player is obviously digging his heels in. Think it will happen as rarely is this situation resolved and the player stays….

Surely that is Riggs position now and for him to develop and with his few appearances on the right been replaced by Poveda

Without wanting to wade into the arguments can I just ask those who defend “the club” at all times, are you actually defending the club or those who are the current stewards of it?

Personally, I couldn’t care less who is in charge as they are transient, the club is us and always will be. All I want it the best chance to get 3 points on Saturdays. They wrote off half a season last season and have gone into this one again without a first team striker. For me, that is failing to give the manager the tools for the job and in no way giving us the best chance of results .

I don’t know why people continue to defend this. I may be called a “bedwetter”’or whatever but, as I say, I only care about SAFC having the best chance to win games. Surely that’s what we all want?
Think what irritates people, well me anyway, is that no one actually is defending the club at all times. We all know it's not good enough about a striker, but it then doesn't cloud everything else. It's also thrown in people's faces numerous times daily, that then means people are just happy and can't see where the club needs to improve. I'm still yet to see a single post or comment, from anyone, saying they think the club gets everything right and there's nothing negative. Not a single one, yet people make out regularly that its said.

We play three in the middle now. Jobe - Neil - Browne, with Jobe going up top to make it a two when we're out of possession and Neil sitting deeper when we're in possession. So if Ekwah leaves that would leave us with Rigg, Aouchiche and Ba as cover, Rigg and Jobe won't be trusted to play that Neil role yet and Ba and Aouchiche aren't really CMs, so it leaves us in a perilous position for cover. Unless Triantis or Lenz are seen as possibles, I'd say we're a little light even before Ekwah potentially leaves.

No mate, I never said anything of the sort, but anything is possible in football, see Danny Graham. I'm just fascinated how in such a short space of time we couldn't possibly know 'roughly' how much we got, to being "not a chance" we got that much. He also had a good length of contract left which would need to be considered
Well not a chance we got £5m because he'd done absolutely nothing and played fewer than 90 minutes, his contract length isn't going to change that really. A fee has never been reported from what I can see but we can take a decent guess at it.

However, if Speakman miraculously did manage to get £5m based on what Lihadji had done then build the bloke a statue.
