Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

This is just one of 21 photos from a pano so frustratingly not lined up perfectly but I might go back to get a better version of this. Crane has gone from north side and you can see where the bridge is heading.

Sorry if already clarified elsewhere but do we know if it is meant to line up with the Keel Line over the other side? It looks like it's there or thereabouts.

Really grateful for all this drone footage. It's fantastic to see it coming to life, step by step. It'll make such a difference to match days and completely opens up the whole Sheepfolds estate.
Go far enough back on this board and you'll find me not that bothered about whether we had a footbridge or not. For whatever reason I had it in my head that it was going to be near St Mary's and didn't think it would add much benefit.
The positioning of it and the joined up thinking which has the Stadium, Sheepfolds Stables, Keel Square etc all linked up has totally got me on board. Will be a massive plus to the city.

Totally agree, and IMO you can't have too many bridges. It's when people want to build walls that you need to be worried (looking at you Trump). The lower level one (if it happens) will also help open up the riverside itself for walking routes etc.

There's a lot of potential in the city as a leisure and tourism destination which has arguably been here since the heavy industry stopped, and is only recently beginning to be exploited. Even if its primary benefit is for the people of Sunderland itself, it's a massive benefit, but as we've seen down the sea front, we're already attracting people from the wider region and I think the city can definitely follow suit. And bringing more housing and businesses into town is also a really smart move. As you say, joined up thinking that is really starting to reap rewards.

A Premier League football team would also help massively but we probably have a bit of a wait there.

Just looking at the bridge there is it likely to carry any utilities over to sheepfolds?

Mainly thinking telecoms as I’d imagine there’s quite a lot of power and gas over there locally anyway.

Forgot to mention that you can see the yellow crane taking shape on the south side. I hadn't really considered the logistics of this but driving home about 8am I saw two lorries carrying parts of what I assumed to be the crane but they seemed to be coming from the direction of the East End. How does that work?
