Car Crash 16.4…

No,I watched lengthy highlights of previous games with the full allocation and it was all power hitting.Obviously a farcical 30 ball game would be all slogging. The discussion would be far healthier without your sarcastic undertone. I fully appreciate the appeal for your daughter and why you can buy in to it. Hence my rider "Each to his own".
so you watched highlights of a rain reduced 30 ball per side game and wondered why there was no finesse

my Apologies, it did come across to me that youd taken that stance from that shortened game, quite a few take the first opportunity to slate it regardless of what they have seen

Credit me with some intelligence please.I have to emphasise that I don't recall a single shot that wasn't cross batted, either a hoyk to leg or stepping back with an attempted swipe through the off. There's nothing that I've seen in the format that appeals to me.If that's slating it in your eyes so be it.We all don't see everything in the same light. Live and let live.

Checking on the state of play last night,I watched some highlights. It was just pure power hitting and slogging. No finesse whatsoever from what I saw. Each to his own though.
That’s because it was reduced to 5 overs a side as raining mate think any game in the world would turn into that if reduced that much
Sorry just seen that discussion already had

🤔yeh, have a word with that boy of yours. He'll tell you to read all the data carefully before committing yourself to the written word.😀😀
5 overs? And you object to labelling it the 16.4.

30 balls is always 5 overs to me mate😀

Aye jumped in too soon 😃

As much as I enjoy ‘ The Hundred’ always find myself looking at the balls and working out how many overs that is and when chasing how much ‘ per over’ a chasing side needs.

Actually for me that is the worst think they did 100 balls rather than 20 overs.

T20 massively popular worldwide no need for that change massive mistake imo.

Pure ego trip by Graves who, along with his puppet CEO, bribed the counties to go along with it.I'm sure we could have obtained the same TV sponsorship with T20 instead of the Hundred.Created massive acrimony on what had been a pleasant and knowledgeable cricket forum.

Yeah personally I would have left it at something like English premier league and played it as a T20 competition.

I do think though every other country has a designated window to play their flagship short format tournament in, and think we needed to do the same whether that was achievable with 18 teams is a whole different debate altogether.

But in this modern cricket world a T20 tournament in peak time in a designated window in this country with games live on the telly was inevitable imo.

But there have certainly not brought the cricket society together as like it or loathe it been extremely divisive which can’t be good thing.

My take on all of this
No need for 100 t20 franchise could work, could share around grounds also northern superchargers at Durham and headingley would have worked. Tournament should have been condensed could have 2 mens games and womens games per day
Mens game at same times as womens, live attendances would not change and people could choose which one they watched on tv
No other cricket at same time by condensing the tournanent
The county t20 could then become a knockout competition expanded to include minor counties/cricket boards etc bit like an fa cup
I love test cricket and always will but think that t20 has brought new skills to tests and 50 over cricket. There are rooms for all formats and fans need to accept that different people enjoy different formats, for me any format which attracts any kids to the game is good (numbers at u18 and second team are dwindling fast in local cricket trust me second teams have men in there 50’s and 60’s regularly playing so clubs can get sides out which is worrying and not sustainable)
This board wastes a lot of time being petty and point scoring which is a Shame as posters obviously love cricket and often have some great stories etc which can be lost

Totally Agree thats what should have happened up here, Superchargers are in the position that both teams have a test quality Ground, but then it doesnt work if a Teams Like Trent have to play at Derby and Leicestershire or Birmingham playing a new Road, so still would have alienated some counties

They do that now, not every day, but been a half a dozen where theres 11 am game 2 3 pm games and a 6 pm one

Agree, i know which camp im in, but there are some who i think are still reeling from the invention of T20 20 years ago

The divisive tournament is in it's final days for this year so hopefully the cricket forum will revert to it's informative and knowledgeable platform where our cricket news and incidents are shared.

Yeah I hope soo, I hope next time there is a great game in the 50 over cup, county championship or test match people can just celebrate that and enjoy it.

Rather than referencing the hundred and saying how much better the above games are.

Just enjoy the cricket and what it provides rather than comparing as cricket entertaining at all levels and formats the majority of times

They’re doing it all over the forum unfortunately, their slavish following of the crisp packet cup is not allowing them to see any balance whatsoever.

You're rather missing the appeal I was making. By all means be critical of some aspect or format of play. By all means allow others to extol even the same aspects or formats of play. Just accept that people have differing viewpoints. It's the personal name calling and labelling that causes acrimony.
