Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

All this for a French 2nd division striker, lot of expectation on his shoulders
Burnley have just signed one from there and a lot of clubs are signings strikers from other European leagues that I imagine would get the same “all this for a player from *insert league name*” from the same people if it was us linked with them.

We are in the championship. Signing a goalscorer in these leagues shouldn’t be sniffed at

For the sake of two weeks? He’s our top target and we have waited this long….we should have some back up plans we can revisit if we reach the end of the window and they won’t budge. Getting a PL loan in now would maybe help too.

I think a lot of this comes down to impatience and fans “wanting it done” whatever the cost.

That’s it though isn’t it? We could sign him and he could top the scoring charts, or not be able to adapt. They could keep him and he could keep banging them in, or be right massive hassle and put no effort in. It’s a gamble either way, just about finding out what makes the gamble worthwhile in terms of the fee.
For the sake of two years marra.

Let’s be honest

Just have to trust Dreyfus and Speakman. They've already shown they have the ability to drive through a great deal to get their man, like with their long term number one head coach target Will Still. Along with their strikers targets in January and last summer, outstanding.

I wouldn’t trust them.
They can’t stop telling lies, they think all the fan base are simpletons

To have any chance of a top 6 push we need a decent striker. Really we need 2. It’s simply bizarre our approach as a club to this issue !

Can only be that we have no money or its a refusal to spend what is needed.

Boro have just bought a decent looking striker in Conway for 4.5m. Looks like he was well out of our price range, but he was available, so there are strikers about.

No. Not for the sake of two weeks. They should have done it 4 weeks ago. If you think a player isn't worth it try and find someone who is.

This could have been a lot easier for everyone. The man is under contract until ‘26. Caen don’t want to let him go for a song. Nobody is offering anything near what they want. The player is obliged to honor his contract and play. The ownership changed. They shouldn’t be expected to honor what the previous ownership apparently was going to go along with. This is all really simple. Turns out it was a distraction, not much more.
