I think a lot of this comes down to impatience and fans “wanting it done” whatever the cost.

They could keep him and he could keep banging them in, or be right massive hassle and put no effort in. It’s a gamble either way, just about finding out what makes the gamble worthwhile in terms of the fee.

This could have been a lot easier for everyone. The man is under contract until ‘26. Caen don’t want to let him go for a song. Nobody is offering anything near what they want. The player is obliged to honor his contract and play. The ownership changed. They shouldn’t be expected to honor what the previous ownership apparently was going to go along with. This is all really simple. Turns out it was a distraction, not much more.
