Forthcoming gigs.

Just back from Latitude, two new acts to follow, Frank Turner, never heard of him but he was (for me), best act of the weekend, also The Lottery Winners, fab band 👍👍
Saw him live at Bearded Theory a couple of years ago and agree totally - a great live/festival act

Anybody going to Northern Kin and/or with decent geographical knowledge of the area - any decent pubs nearby that will be showing the match on Saturday?

Anyone in the Peterlee area at the weekend might fancy a look at Life Just Bounces on Saturday. Part of the 75th anniversary celebrations, three local bands (including the excellent Vice Killer and the hotly-tipped Marginal Gains). Tickets on a pay-as-you-feel basis. Bit of a preview here, including clips of two of the bands and links to the festival:

I’ll be there, make sure you grab me. But no. Me & owa lass are leaving early Saturday morning to see the bairns football match & coming back asap. The Shane MacGown tribute is about 1:30pm so I’ll be hopefully there for that. Match will just be alerts on my phone.

I'll be in the area, but at Northern Kin which looks to be a bit of a hike! A shame really, listening to your playlist I think I'd be better entertained than by a lot of the festival acts - but I don't want to miss the Waterboys. I'll have a listen to some of the other playlists tomorrow. I was down at the anniversary do at the college earlier in the year with Martha and the Futureheads and thought it was a really good event.

If you can blag your way in to Northern Kin with a press pass or something it would be great to have a catch up! 12 years since that glorious 3rd place in the Peace Cup in Seoul! Are you still writing about football as well?

Got my ticket a while back. Not sure what to expect, based on which look more like appearances than full gigs.
Yes I noticed that, there is another date a couple of days before Newcastle so will probably find out then. Support from Martin Macaloon should be good.

I'm away down London at the weekend, so won't make it to Peterlee myself. Pity, would be good to raise a glass to Ryan Noble's finest hour some time. Mostly writing about ice hockey at the moment, but trying to do some bits of pieces with music / culture to get some variety in there. Mixed results, so far.

They looked like a touring festival where there about eight acts from that era. Understandable he would only get 8/9 songs.

Abnorm @ The Cluny. Young band from ncl, still learning their craft - a decent little noise, with an EP out in late '24. Second time I've seen them (first was supporting Venus Grrrrls before covid)

Festival on Satda night in N.Portugal9
Canny line up that. Worth the 7 hour drive
Really looking forward to it
Decent, that.

Having not gigged much the last year or so, I suddenly have a few lined up. Not all my own choice, so no judgement please!

Local lad who funds music nights in small venues has an early Genesis tribute band on, so we're going along to that in Sept. Seen em before and they are tight and decent if you like that Gabriel era prog stuff!
Then I have Tindersticks in Bristol in Oct (and then again in April 2025 at the Albert Hall!) IDLES at Ally Pally in Nov and someone else in Nov who I now forget, might be Hard-Fi...
